Sunday delivery isn't a "standard service." It might be available for a substantial premium. I have no idea if Columbus Day is on their list of holidays. I'm pretty sure it is for the Post Office, not too many private companies observe Columbus Day.

Get in line about daming the USPS.

Sept. 22, ordered a CD from Bestbuy.com. It was mailed on Sept. 23 from a suburb of Chicago via UPS (I'm about 200 miles southwest of Chicago). It went to Kansas City, Missouri (far west side of Missouri), then to St. Louis.

Sept. 26 (a Monday), it was transferred from UPS to USPS in St. Louis, which is about 90 miles from me. That was two weeks ago, still haven't received the damn CD (and the tracking confirms that it hasn't been delivered, it's just out there somewhere).

Think that's bad? If I want to send a letter to somebody one town over, it gets sent to Portland, sorted, then sent back up to be delivered. Such a letter would take 3 days to be delivered.

I'm switching to carrier pigeon.

Funny you say that. I ordered a dvd from BB.com, it was sent to FL (where I live) from Cali, sent BACK to Cali, sat there for EIGHT days without moving, took TWELVE days to send back to FL a second time, and another THREE days to deliver to me once it got back to FL. I swear the USPS must hate BB.

Speaking of FedEx deliveries, does the "estimated delivery date" usually tend to be correct? My package left today and is supposed to be here friday (10/14). I am leaving for a couple days friday night and hope that I get the package! Thanks.

Now that's a trip!

This will be the last time I order from bestbuy.com, next time I'll do instore pickup. The only reason I didn't do it this time was that the CD I ordered wasn't available from my local store, the only reason I placed the order in the first place was that I had a $10 digital coupon.
