Nevadans, how much was your DMV check?

Nevada had a surplus and decided to give back money to the people by reimbursing part of the previous year's car registration fees. Mine was for $177. But a family member opened my eyes to what an evil plot this is, because now we'll just spend it and pay most it back in taxes!

I got $140 back. I just don't get how they raised our taxes a billion dollars, what two years ago, and now turn around and give 300 million of it back.

Ummm, Nevada never used to have personal income tax unless that's changed recently. What "taxes" did they raise?

There's no state income tax. Our sales tax was increased two years ago (I believe from 7% to 7.5%).

Plus your government decided it over charged you and gave some of it back?

Somehow, I think all my state (Maine) would do is say "Oops, sorry about that."

I wont get one since I just moved here a few months back, but the damn DMV charged me $175 in sales tax on top of registration when I registered my truck here. Then again, I live in White Pine County and we need all the money we can get since they dont know how to manage a budget around here.

Actually sales tax in Nevada is 7.75% (it was changed just last week).

I got $75 back! Which quickly went to pay off my credit card bill.

I think sales tax varies from county to county. Clark county's sales tax is higher because they have to pay to steal all the water from the rural counties  .

actually, Nevada's state sales tax is 6.5%. Any additional tax you pay is imposed by local govt (cities and counties).
