Is Coke Zero dying?

So I commonly buy one or two 2-liter bottls of Coke Zero at the grocery store. However, the other day when I was shopping, I bought the last two Coke Zeros the store had, without even realizing it.

Today I went back to the same store to grab another bottle of it, and there's nothing but Diet Coke. I ended up having to compromise with a diet cherry coke, but I was not happy with it.

Anyone know how Coke Zero is doing? I think it's a magnificent drink that's sper sweet with no carbs (I'm not on Atkins, I'm on this new diet called "Diabetes") Anyone know if it's being phased out? I'd understand if it were, because it's basically a good diet Coke, but I'd hate to see it go

Is it possible that the store you went to just didn't have any more? Why the sudden leap to "is it dying?" I love the stuff, and I see plenty of it when I go shopping.

The area that had it had Diet Coke in its place, and the placard where it said "Coke Zero" was missing

Ouch.

I loved that stuff. Better than the Diet Coke w/ Splenda, at least...

Coke Zero was pretty good but I don't think it was as popular as they expected, so maybe they are phasing it out.

Last I heard, Coke still had plans for a multi-million dollar fall marketing campaign centered around Coke Zero. However, that was about a month ago, so I don't know how things may have changed. Coke is expected to report earnings and sales figures in two weeks.

Coke Zero - Loathsome, Hideous product. Nothing beats regular Diet Coke - Crisp, refreshing, no aftertaste. My favorite!

I was at a Walmsrt superstore two days ago and was looking for Coke Zero. They didn't have a space for it so it doesn't look good.

The Ace-K in Diet Coke with Splenda (which tastes like ass anyway) Coke Zero and Sprite Zero gives me wicked heartburn, so I won't miss any of them. Trusty pure Aspartame-sweetened Diet Coke is fine by me, and in caffeine free form, is my soda of choice.

Coke Zero is pretty good...basically a diet coke that actually tastes like a regular coke. I can't drink Diet Coke at all. It gives me a wicked headache, and leaves a really nasty after taste in my mouth for hours.

I just bought a few 12-packs yesterday. They were actually on an endcap with Coke, diet Coke, and Sprite. To me it looked like they were actually expanding the amount they carry and show off in stores.

I still see it around. It's one of the few diet sodas I can stand.

That's what the company wants you to think. Diet coke drinkers who try coke zero may think it tastes like regular coke, but to a regular coke drinker such as myself, it tastes like diet coke trying to taste like regular coke, but failing miserably.

Trust me, I am a regular coke drinker. I was at a point where I was drinking 6 of those 20oz. bottles a day. I'm trying to cut it all out completely, but it's hard for me to go cold turkey. So when I feel the urge for a coke, I go for a Coke Zero now. Tried a regular Diet Coke, and had a migrane for the rest of the day, and took me a long time to get that nasty taste out of my mouth. Coke Zero, I can chug it down. Still doesn't taste as good as a regular Coke, but it's not that much of a taste difference. Kills my craving without doing too horrible.

I went to a college football game last night and they were giving away cans of Coke Zero at the exits. the guys were saying "take as many as you want". I grabbed one just to try it. Wasn't bad but it certainly wasn't good. I think I drank about 1/4 of the can and then just pitched it.

I didn't not like it. Their biggest mistake was allowing Diet Coke to go unchallanged for decades, thus getting most people hooked on the different taste. I think they assumed that people would like a sweeter diet cola, but I don't want a sweeter one. Plus, I'm not about to let them make a fool out of me after convincing me with the slogan "Diet Coke. Just for the taste of it."

I believe it is still #3 in total sales around the world behind only regular Coke and Pepsi.

I can't remember if I read it here or somewhere else, but I remember reading that the formula for Diet Coke is based on the failed New Coke that came out ca. 1985, and the Coke Zero formula is basically Coke Classic with the same sweeteners as Diet Coke. Which to me explains why I can't stand the taste of Diet Coke: I couldn't stand the taste of New Coke, even with sugar/corn syrup.

I love this Coke Zero stuff; I've been drinking enough of it that I can't tell the difference between it and regular Coke, unless I did a side by side taste test. I'm wondering, for those people who think it tastes like concentrated nasty, what else do you drink that makes you say that?
