What's OD mean?

Personally I never read Arlo & Janis if can help it. The only comic strips I even read semi-regularly are Dilbert and Foxtrot. But my mom likes Arlo & Janis, and she asked me what today's strip meant. I wasn't sure either.

I assume it means they didn't find anyone any bodies at that site when sorting through Hurricane wreckage or something, but I couldn't think of what it would actually stand for. Anyone know?

Seems like the answer. The man is searching for dead bodies with the dog which makes Arlo & Janis realize that there are worse things to lose than property.

The letter "D" with a number will denote the number of dead victims.
I guess it is supposed to be 0D.

It's easier to make a "d", rather than a capital letter "D".

Duh, overdose. Overdosing is much worse than losing everything you own. That's a drug dog.

Yup. The search and rescue team after the hurricane would spray paint the door of homes they searched to mark the number of dead. That way, the teams that came to collect the bodies later would know where to go and how many body bags to bring.

Maybe it was their personal banker stopping by to let them know they have an overdraft on their account?

Yes, it's overdose. The dog was looking for drugs and the guy realized they didn't have any, so he gave them some of his stash and put OD on the door so that no other drug providers would give them drugs (in other words, don't OD).
