What's OD mean?
Personally I never read Arlo & Janis if can help it. The only comic strips I even read semi-regularly are Dilbert and Foxtrot. But my mom likes Arlo & Janis, and she asked me what today's strip meant. I wasn't sure either.

I assume it means they didn't find anyone any bodies at that site when sorting through Hurricane wreckage or something, but I couldn't think of what it would actually stand for. Anyone know?

The letter "D" with a number will denote the number of dead victims.

It's easier to make a "d", rather than a capital letter "D".

Yup. The search and rescue team after the hurricane would spray paint the door of homes they searched to mark the number of dead. That way, the teams that came to collect the bodies later would know where to go and how many body bags to bring.
