What does solace and succor mean to you?

I just watched the Russ Meyer flick "Beneath the Valley of the Ultravixens" and they go on about Ufalla Root giving "solace and succor" to the masses.

What does that mean to you? Have you ever heard of such a thing? I won't give away the context of the usage lest I taint your mind of the implied meaning.

So whaddya think?

Off the top of my head:

Solace = offering/finding emotional and/or physical comfort and support during a tough time

Succor = re-energizing (emotionally and/or physically) yourself on resources offered by another.

Edit: Just looked it up on m-w.com . . . I was pretty close.

Succor is more commonly known as "football" in just about every other country except the U.S.
