Anyone else getting huge increase in spam lately?

Dang, seventy new emails this morning and most are all spam. I swear half of them are from this rewardinginstance that seems to be selling shady dvds from what I can figure. I wonder if they get email addresses from forums somehow.

Well, I'm pretty sure DVD Talk has their emails cloaked, because I don't get any spam in my DVD Talk email. However, some of the other DVD forums probably do not have this protection. That's why you shouldn't use your main email on forums. I learned the hard way and finally, a few years later, I don't get much spam.

My spam has dropped from about 60 / day to about 10 / day in the past year. And about 9 of those end up in my spam filter. I don't know what's been done, but someone's doing something right. Almost. I've also noticed it can be very difficult for my clients to get legitimate emails to a great many of their customers. I get so many email help requests, I had to finally start having them call their ISP directly for support (since email support is not by business to begin with). User-end spam filters are many, but not everyone knows how to use them properly, and server spam filters within a business are far more difficult to get around, for obvious reasons, but there are a lot of legit emails getting stopped before they even hit a customer's computer. I'm sure IT guys and gals are crazy over this issue.

Mine has dramatically increased over the last few weeks but I have a feeling it's due to random forum asshats putting my email Addy at porn sites to be childish and mean.

Mine hasn't. I knew somebody who suddenly experienced an increase in spam emails, particularly from sites she'd never go to. It turned out that somebody else she knew (who was up to other bad stuff and is now spending time in prison for something else entirely) was visiting porn sites and putting in her email address when was was required to gain access.

Whenever I am required to put in an email address at a website, I put in a yahoo.com address I created just to put out online. I can't say I've noticed an increase in there, but if there is a sudden influx of spam emails, it would make me wonder considering the above story. And in my regular email address account, which I never post online, I will occasionally get something, but maybe five times a week.

No one has my main email account Addy I use it exclusively for family and business. I get very few spams. I would never post it online.

That's how I work, too. That's what my hotmail and yahoo accounts are for.

Sorry someone's been spamming you, Bella. That's not at all nice.

The amount of spam I get is pretty consistent - enough to be annoying, not so much that it drives me crazy.

But why do so many people think I need to increase my size?

I have a Yahoo account and the amount of spam making its way into my non-spam inbox has increased. The spam filter used to get pretty much everything, but now its letting through all kinds of crap.

I coulda swore the title said, "Sperm".

Since I switched to Time Warner for Net access I rarely get any real spam. "Real" meaning unsolicited e-mails or junk e-mails. Mind you, this is from OVER 100+ and sometimes much more spam e-mails a day on Prodigy a few years back. But to be honest a lot of that SPAM came from not knowing how to avoid the SPAM traps on the Net.

I thought it said that too.. this is begging for a title change.

I've been getting the normal amount of spam, but in a new twist it seems i've been winning overseas lotteries like crazy! I'm looking forward to collecting on all of these, especially so I can help out this guy who's kidneys got stolen after he passed out at a party.
