Shower Rod Woes-- HELP!

Okay, so who knows anything about standard tension shower curtain rods?

I've never ever had troubles with one but then yesterday my shower curtain rod came crashing down. When I try to put it back up it looks like it's tightly in place, but in an hour or so--down it comes. Nothing has changed in the bathroom so why am I having troubles now?

Any suggestions for getting it back up securely??

Thank you, I'll be here all night! (mainly because I'm in my bedroom...)

Back to the problem at hand, you might try screwing the rod a bit, so that it lengthens... Umm... You know what I mean...

The rods are in two parts, and by turning one part, it will screw into or out of the other part...

aww snap....

are the rubber holders on each side of the pole... (man this whole thread sounds dirty)

might try putting a quarter, or small washer under each of them for a very small added length.

after a while the rubber ends will tend to get dry rotted and lose there grip, if this is the case a little dab of silicone on the ends will help put the grip back.

Is the rod fitting in nice and tight? Remember, when things get steamy the rod might get wet and slip out.

If it's up temporarily it might not be the rod, just the technique your using to get it and keep it up.

check and see if one of the ends unscrews to increase tension, counterclockwise to increase tension.

Okay--it's FINALLY fixed!! I didn't realize what you guys were talking about when you said you could screw one end into the other. So, I figured that out and lengthened it a bit but the real problem was there was a plastic 'stay' that fits into the space between the bars in the center and that had come off and was hidden at one end of the rod under one of my shower hooks.

Once I slipped that back into place and made it a little longer everything is good.

I just don't know how it shortened on its own....maybe the rubber ends had shrunk just enough to cause it to no longer be the tight fit that it needed.

Thanks again everyone for your help.. and all of the 'rod' jokes. I guessed I should have called it a shower curtain 'bar'

It's broken again. I snuck into Bloomies apartment to drop off flowers and noticed the rod fell. I didn't even realize this thread.

Shhhhh.... fix it but don't tell her that it fell.

This way she'll think we know our shit.

p.s. sorry to hear about your rod problem

The cold water from the shower would have caused it to shrink a little.
