Is 9:30am too early to start mowing the lawn?

Just curious what people think. I want to get an early start Saturday morning but I also don't want to be "that" neighbor.

My personal cutoff time is 9:00 AM. I like to get started before it gets too hot.

Depends on the day, and what else goes on in your neighbourhood.
For me, I'd think 9-930 on Saturday, 10 on Sunday.
On Saturdays in late summer/early fall, I dont' see 930 as being too early.

Anything before 10 is too early, especially since I'm still in bed.

Anytime after 9:00 am - cut away, young man.

I generally don't get started until 11 ish, but I hear the distant roar from 8:00 on.

IMO, yes. I can't see anyone having a problem with 10am, though. I get up at 6:30-7:00am everyday, including weekends so I personally wouldn't have a problem but a lot of people like to sleep in, expecially if they went out the night before.

I tend to agree, assuming you are talking about the weekend.

I should add that I usually start around 10 or 10:30am. Thanks for the replies so far.

I think it's fine. The older I get, the earlier I get up anyway, so I'm usually up around 7:00 on weekends anyway, earlier if I have a tee time in the middle of summer.

I actually started a similar thread, I think 2 years ago, iirc, but it apparently didn't make a "forum pruning", as I couldn't even find it.

9:30, I wouldn't really complain to much about. Prior to 9am, yes, I would complain.

Although my neighbors suck, as they all do, I never start before 9:30 on a weekend. The grass may also be too dewy before then.

Depends on what kind of neighborhood you live in... lots of single people = sleeping in from Friday night partying, but families = kids getting everyone up early anyways.

Personally, anything before 10am and I'd be wishing evil upon your family, but that's me.

Mostly young families. I live on a corner, so I only have two neigbors that connect directly to my property. One is a young family. The other is an older hippy guy with a beat up and rusted out station wagon in his backyard, right up against our back fence. Not too worried about bothering him.

I usually would not do it earlier then 10am, but I am leaning towards starting a half hour early just this one time. Seems about 50-50 in here so far.

Yes, yes it is.

Real men mow the lawn at dusk.

It's really odd to see anyone with a Hello Kitty avatar opining on how "real men" should behave.

I think I did too, except I believe mine might have been a complaint about a specific neighbor starting early on a sunday morning.

Anyway, just to be safe, anything earlier then 10am can certainly be considered annoying. And on my street, you are setting yourself up for potential reprisals.

Personally if I have things to do I do it when I do it. If the sun is up it's all fair game. If a neighbor doesn't like it then they're all the more welcome to come over and do it when they wake up if they want to sleep in. Not my fault they stayed out drinking till 3 in the morning.

But as a side note I wouldn't start anyway till the grass had dried (dew).

Exactly. All my neighbors have kids so 9:30 is not a problem for me. Sure beats doing it later when the sun is roaring hot.
