Online high school diploma or GED test?

A friend of mine was remarking the other day about how she never finished high school, and wanted to go to an adult school, but it'd be hard with her job to get there for classes. So I mentioned a GED and she said she'd have to take that at the adult school also, but I could have sworn you could do it online. I told her I'd find out so that brings me to the question:

Does anyone have any info or advice as to what places (if any) offer diplomas and/or GED's online?

I dont know of any places online. When I went for mine I went in one day and took a practice test and scored really high, and then I didnt have to do any of the study classes so it basically only took 2 days to finish.

I got my GED. It was 1 Saturday. It took about 5-6 hours. Is it really that impossible for her to get 1 Saturday off?

I never took study classes or anything. I had a GED book at home.

I never studied at all the admin of the practice test said I didn't need to. But the reason I didn't graduate was because I was lazy ass when it came to stuff that made me bored and high school was extremely boring for me since I wasn't learning anything. The only reason I got my ged was because I needed it to get promoted at my job (hey those commercials were right about better jobs ).

You'd be surprised, I asked the same question. She's more into one of those earn your dipolma from home things, no Sally Struthers, please

Oh and the GED classes around here are on weekdays and split between two days of testing.

GED Chris Rock says it's "Good Enough Diploma" but man the colleges are all about learning and prtying they say it's the best 4 years of your life but what iss "they" and what/who do "they" know? What can Plato and Socrates teach us about this barren empty life? We have TVs and science and medicine and cheap shirts you can buy but where is the learing really happeing? 6 years onward, same job, just a rat, a ra tin the office, you keep going and you try but for what? Cheap suits and cocktails on Thrusdays? The diploma is not for everybody, the chosen, the skulls and bones, only needing a C to be the best, what is it about? Old boys club scecret handhskaes, fraternities, but man, at least there's girls . and drinking -- just don't do it too much, ok? You gotta play it straight every once ni a while so the parent s don't worry. Otherwise hello bee hives nest. And the reunion? what then? no siree, low blow, 34 again and none the wiser.

Have her do the opposite of whichever one taught you how to spell "schhol."

Re: Online high schhol diploma or GED test?

The GED test, diploma and other credentials are not offered online. The only legitimate way of obtaining a GED diploma is to appear and take it in person in an accredited testing center.

A faster, more effective and cheaper way of studying for the GED is to join online GED classes. It'll be easier to study more topics in less time this way. Try taking online GED practice tests, too. Various resources are available online for these through programs in ***. Goodluck!

Makes me wonder if high school transcripts from the 90's and earlier even exist anymore. Seems to me you'd just put down that you graduated high school and no one would ever check other than a college.

If the friend is still considering this 13 years later it's probably a lost cause.

Maybe she hasn't been able to get a Saturday off in 13 years?

Winnie, thanks for the timely response. I look forward to your review of Jaws in the "movie" forum.

It looks like WinnieC76 joined a lot of education forums this week. I don't know why she's also interested in DVDs.

She read nickdawgy's post history, and realized that there was an opportunity to educate him about the dangers of predatory lending.

A cool new member joins, posts an actual thoughtful and informative post, and you guys take her to task more than Nick Dawgy. This is why we can’t have nice things.

The fact that a cool new member found a post that has been dead and buried for 10 plus years and decided to make that their first post is amazingly weird.

Not as weird as we think ... Google searches turn up some strange things.

Yeah, it's not as if new members come here specifically looking for old threads to bump. These kinds of posts happen because someone searches for something on Google, gets a match with a DVD Talk thread, and decides to respond without looking at how old the posts that they are responding to are.

This thread was likely the first thing Winnie ever saw of our board.

And the last. Bastards.

I know I don’t look at the dates on posts. Eventually I figure it out, but it takes a while.
