Is this a Paypal Hoax?

Got this in my email box, looks like a hoax:

You can always go directly to paypal and log in... if there are problems with your account they will pop up on the screen after you log in to the offocial site... they will never ever email you stuff like this. Neither will AOL, neither will the bank, neither will...

That was my thought. Even if they did I'd still never click the links and just go to the site and log in on my own.

Yep. I've gotten several of these in the past week or two. Since I use Gmail, I used the "Report Phishing" button to report them and hopefully help filter that crap out of other people's inboxes.

Whenever I get these (and if it looks remotely official) I do just as Thor said. I'll log into the website and see if anything is amiss... even though I know in my heart that all is cool (shit DOES happen).
