They should at least put the Elephants in the Red States.

There use to be lots of those types of animals in the US (not sure about giraffes). I know that camels were decently prominant in the Pacific NW for quite some time as well.

Problem: The states with the room to support these animals are also the "drunken rednecks that will shoot anything" states.

They're talking about the great plains states. Not the midwest. Where are they going to put elephants in the midwest? In the middle of a corn field?

I dont want to imagine what would happen if a elephant was to wander on to some rural stretch of highway running thru Kansas or Iowa.

As opposed to the states without room, containing the "crack addict junkies that will kill anyone or steal anything" states.

They really need a herd of giant apes, preferably dressed as pirates.

Man, I'd hate to hit one of these things on the highway if you were driving.

What's amazing is that the climate of the Serengeti is almost exactly like the Great Plains.

Although CNN has this article just above the proposal to let lions roam the plains.

As a resident of the Midwest, I'll say, "thanks, but no thanks."

We probably have room for some wild animals in Phily.

Yeah, I don't think this is a good idea. It's why we have zoos.

And the ancient pastime of cow tipping becomes an extreme sport. On ESPN 8 "The Ocho!"

I imagine it would try to hitch a lift to get the hell out of there and taken somewhere, anywhere, else. Aggressive, depressed elephant hitch-hikers - yikes.

Just one more thing for the news media to make people fear: Elephant stampedes! They really aren't the friendliest of creatures to people in their native lands when they decide people are in the way. Let them stay in Africa!

Heck, I don't think it's a good idea for ANY of them to be here!
