Do your parents ever make fun of you or point out things that you'd rather they didn'

Sorry if that doesn't make much sense since I wrote it in the vernacular.

Do your parents ever make fun of you? It hasn't happened in a while, but my mom used to frequently point out that my hair is thinning on top. I don't mind that I'm losing my hair, I just didn't like her constantly pointing it out, if you take my meaning.

Not anymore they don't. I left.

They still don't understand why I won't come visit.

When one of them dies, I might try to make friends with the other. But, both of them together is impossible, they do tag-team humiliation.

YES. I don't live around there anymore, so when I last went to visit (which was about a year since I last visited) we were driving to see my sister's new house and my mom makes a comment that she doens't understand why I haven't bought a house yet. I mention that I don't want to deal with shoveling snow, mowing the lawn and all that outside type crap. She looks at my waist line and says, "That might do you some good." Now I know I am not thin, but I am not gargantuan either. I could stand to lose some weight, I know, but I don't need her pointing it out every time I see her, and only a couple hours after I get back up there! Geez, save the negative soul crushing comments for later in the week when I am ready to pack up and go back home next time!

At least she doesn't mention my thinning hair! Apparently she only nit picks the things I guess she feel I can control. Of course the rest of the week, she is shoving sweets and food in my face like she's Italian or something. Ya want me to lose weight, huh????

My Dad and I talk on the phone a couple of times a week, and sometimes the conversation gets thin pretty quickly:

Me: "Um...there's not really much more to say. I guess I could start making stuff up if you want."

The Smartass: "Well, you could tell me you have a girlfriend, but I know that's a lie."

My parents are always pointing out that I talk too fast to the point where they feel people think I'm mumbling incoherently. They've been doing that forever, or at least since when I was a kid. I mean, to me it seems they're the only ones that don't catch everything I say.

That worked until my dad's best friend's son was busted for running a Meth lab, assaulting a cop, firearm possession while on probation, and almost died from swallowing 2 grams of crack cocaine he had on him.

Nowadays, it's just remarks about my weight and lack of income.

Gosh, there seems to be a correlation between people who suffer from depression and people whose parents make nasty comments. Hmm.

Never did. My parents were pretty supportive now that I think of it. Although since I got my 51" widescreen tv my dad is always gloating about his 36" crt. "Hey look at that high definition picture!" and it's not even a HDTV

My parents never did that. I can't imagine doing that to my kids.

Yep, my parents have. Not so much anymore.

BTW, I'm sure this is why serial killers exist.

My mother still tells me "I'm still a bit fat" at 110lbs. Even though I was up to almost 140lbs three years ago. I feel that I now look much better than I ever have in my life. I used to weigh 98lbs and it didn't look or feel as good. But, she still harps on me about it almost every visit she makes to my house. But, she's not the best mother in the world. Out of the blue, she once pointed out that she could have had an abortion instead of having me. WTF? Even if she had thought about it (which she said she didn't) way say something like that? I wasn't being mean to her in any way, shape, or form.

My dad doesn't make fun of me unless it's actually really funny and not hurtful.
