Naming rights for children?

Wondering if this has ever happened. A company pays a couple a certain amount of $ for naming rights of their child. A new form of advertising perhaps?

ex. Nike pays Stefi Graf and Andre Agasi 100$ mil to name their child nike

would you sell naming rights on your nextborn?

This has happened before.

I remember during the Dot Com boom some company was offering $10,000 to anybody who'd name their kid after the website. They had so many people interested they ended up having to limit to just a few couples.

Also, $10,000 for getting a logo on your forehead:

Interesting, but slightly OT article:
http://www.simpletoremember.com/what/BrandNameBaby.htm
"...but in the United States, 353 girls were named Lexus in 2000, according to baby names on social security applications.

Among the other popular names in the United States in 2000 -- Chanel (269 girls), Timberland (six boys), Porsche (24 girls) and Armani (273 boys and 298 girls)."

Wow. That many new strippers in 2018...

I'd name my kid DVDTalk in exchange for an avatar.

If you make me a mod, I'll name him or her Kleinman.

Gwyneth Paltrow named her child because she was given a 17" Powerbook.

Welcome to the first century. This has been happening a while now. I would never pay to name my child NIKE. Why would I pay to have that products name on my kids reportcard?

For an avatar, I'd name mine Book Talk and I'd even make him post there.

There's a whole side of my family that's taken "Miller" as their last name. Lushes! Lushes, I say!

Well, if Serinity ever takes off and Firefly becomes a viable franchise, at least he'd share a name with a cool character on there!

How about initials? KFC, for example? Or KY?
