Chicago Air & Water Show

Wow, the planes have already arrived! I've seen some Blue Angels and Red Barrons already.

Anybody else seen? I wish I brought my camera to the office.

Well it is probably better than the Chicago w/ Earth, Wind & Fire shows :

I haven't been to a Blue Angels show since I was a kid, but I do remember totally enjoying it.

I hear 'em from my office, but my window faces the wrong way.

I used to live in Wrigleyville, right about where the planes turn around. That got loud on Air & Water Show weekend.

I do not get it. Although I will take an EW&F show any day.

As far as the planes...yup heard them overhead for a bit now. Actually after many years living near Navy Pier I am glad I am away from the lakefront now.

I wonder how many accidents they'll cause on LSD this year.

It took me a minute to realize you were referring to Lake Shore Drive.

I looked out the window and saw a gray F-16 flying over the city, so I think it's a Thunderbirds year instead of Blue Angels.

Rehearsals are usually on Thursday and Friday. I guess there's a lot of rain in the forecast, so they had a practice Wednesday instead.

I hope something stealth turns up this weekend!

Here are some pix:

A-10 Thunderbolt FA-18 Hornet

Team Oracle Heritage Flight

B-52 Bomber Aeroshell Aerobatic Team

The brand new F-22 Stealth Raptor:

Two of the Thunderbirds made contact during one of their early passes and the missle rail at the tip of the rear plane's right wing fell off into the lake. You can see it's gone in this pic. They cancelled the rest of their performance, as well as their appearance the next day, disappointing a lot of people.
