Throwing a Surprise Party

My wife will be turning 30 on Sept. 10(just less than 4 weeks). I'd like to throw a surprise party, but never have, and I'm not sure the best way to go about it. My current thought is to take her to dinner, then have friends/family at our house waiting for when we get back. I'd thought about having it somewhere else, but it's hard to find a reason to go there. For instance, we can't go for an after dinner drink since she's pregnant, and how do you spontaneously go for dessert where we could have the party?

How'd you do it?

Make sure you blindfold her at a table with lots of people around it being really quiet. Then she will unwittingly pass gas, etc. and it will be funny. Report back.

One thing to really, really, really remember is to not tell her about it.

I spent my 30th birthday sitting in my closet crying. It was great.

I would call Nina from Joymakers.

Failing that, the key is in the timing with your friends. People can keep a secret, but lateness will screw up a surprise party worse than anything. Be strict on arrival times and even show up late yourself to ensure others that are late aren't blowing it.

Oh shit. The hormones have been making her a bit, ugh, unstable at times. Is this what I have to look forward to?
