Same thing that happens to everything else.

Usually, it is conducted on the outer skin of the plane. The plane, crew, and passengers are generally unaffected. Planes are hit by lightening "all the time." They wouldn't fly through thunderstorms if it was a problem.

CAUTION: Do not try this in your ultralight made of sticks and cloth. It won't be as immune.

OldDude is right. Big ol' jet airliners like that take hits of lightning all the time. Only neat thing about this one is that they caught it on tape.

Well, that is inside the plane, but the lighting is outside! I bet they wouldn't want you shooting off lighting bolts in the plane like you were Zeus either!

I used to think that line was stupid, then I found out that Joss Whedon wrote it, so now I think it's brilliant...the delivery was the problem.

Passenger to his wife: "No, honey, I swear, I never slept with your sister. I swear. I swear to God. Yes, I swear, and if I'm lying, may a lightning bolt strike me -- Holy sh*t!"

Maybe between storms, or around them, or above or below them. Flying THROUGH them could easily rip a planes wings off.
