Gentrification... yeah, we got it going

I just started using ImageShack (appropriate for this thread) so I'm on a little photo kick at the moment.

I was jogging last week and came across this scene that fascinated me. I live in a fairly rough area. But that was the price I paid for a great deal on a new house. This is what I discovered down the street....

And RIGHT across the street from these two lovely homes is this....

Starting in the mid-400s. I'll take a wild guess and assume a little gentrification is going to cause the neighbors to high-tail it one day. This is about as different as you can get on the same street. FYI, for those familiar with Atlanta it's very close to "downtown" Avondale Estates (Rockbridge Road).

LIAR! You weren't jogging - I see your reflection in the side mirror!

You can get that house for mid-400s in Atlanta? That would be 800-900 where I live, easily.

Man, come out to Chicago. You have Cabrini Green, which was the largest housing projects in North America, and directly across the street you'll find $300-750k condos.

If I were to take you on a drive, I'd tell you to look at all those fancy condos ... and you'd ask where the sales office was, and then I'd point you across the street at the ghetto.

Simply. Amazing.

Maybe one day I'll do a photo tour -- I'm just afraid of being shot.

I took the pics of the "shacks" as quickly as possible. I can only imagine what/who would have come out to question what I was doing. Just up the road when I was jogging there were three pitbulls on both sides of the street scrapping to jump the fence and come after me.

It's always nice to have animal lovers inthe neighborhood though, now isn't it?

They have those cameras there though right?
We just got 3 for western addition here near me, and there was a shooting the night after they went up.
