Dorritos is the Devil!

So last night after dinner, I settle down in front of the tube relaxing from a long hard day with a bag of Dorritos nacho-cheese chips, watching whatever my tivo was kind enough to record. And before I knew it, I had eaten half of the fucking bag.

WTF!

I was fine while I was eating it, but after I realized what I had done, I felt like shit - my mouth was all cut up, my stomach felt like crap, and I can still taste the saltiness of it all. I slept horribly afterwards and I still haven't eaten since. This sort of thing was no problem 15 years ago when I was a teenager... sucks gettin' old.

perhaps, if you had eaten the doritos and not the bag, you'd be alright?

Snacks and candy nowadays are so damn addicting, I usually just stay away from them.

Look at it this way. The bags are usually only half-full to begin with (settling and all that). So, in reality, you only ate 1/4 of the bag.

Feel better already?

I switched to the baked kind years ago - so if I do over-do it, it's not nearly so bad for me. (beware the "light" version, however - that has olestra - the baked kind are lowfat solely because they're baked, not because there's fake stuff in it).

I had a physical last week and the only thing the doctor told me was that I need to cut back on chips. Then she poked my ass.

I wanted to like the baked Doritos, but I just can't get into them. The texture is too wrong for me. Baked Lays aren't bad, sort of Pringles-like. And Baked Cheetos are pretty good once you get used to them. But with Baked tortilla chips I can never get into the "illusion", so to speak.

I'll tell you this. That is the first time I have ever been anally probed. No martian or man has ever done that to me before. Being 40-years-old it is rare that I encounter new experiences and when she did her thang my synapses were screaming, "New experience, new experience!" And it hurt like hell. She did ask me to push and I was thinking that wasn't a good idea. I am already mortified at the thought of having another physical next year. Maybe if I quit eating Dorritos then I'll just wait a couple of years for my next finger insertion.

This is why I don't even buy them. We keep pretzels around for snacking.

Same here. I love the Snyders flavered pretzels. Makes them a little less healthy, but delicious. Garlic Bread is the best.

I do this with rolls of Ritz crackers. I open one, sit in front of the TV, and it magically disappears before I even notice I've eaten them all.

I don't buy chips as much any more either for the same reasons as the OP. It does cut up your mouth and if I eat too many, I do feel ill. I am will walk down the snack aisle at the grocery store when I shop, but so often I am just not attracted to anything there and often leave the aisle not buying anything.

Yeah - I rarely buy snacks - I just had these as hold-overs from my 4th of July BBQ that I didn't get to serve. Never again!

You know what snack food I never feel bad about after eating a lot of? Ice Cream - for some reason, that never feels bad. But I really only have ice cream about once a week anyways.

The worst part is, at least for me ... that first Dorito tastes the best, and the rest are just an attempt to get that first taste back.

I usually try to ration my junk food so I only eat a little bit at a time for flavors.

I usually snack on pretzels but love Ruffles. I only buy 1 bag a year, though. One of my favorite snacks is sliced cucumber with lots of lemon, pico pica and a dash of salt. So good.

Baked Cool Ranch Doritos own all other chips. I used to eat them alot, but I got tired of them. The Light Lays and Ruffles are good, but yeah the Olestra is bad for you. It can give you the major shits (well so can any snack but this is worse)

I like pretzels, too. Rold Gold sticks, no fat grams and like 44 pieces is 100 calories. Tons of salt though. Not that I'm complaining....

Why don't you just pour a serving out of the bag & into a bowl? Eat only from the bowl. That way, you don't over eat!

I guess I don't eat enough snack foods to have known the best way to do it.

But now I know. And knowing is half the battle. Go JOE!
