Have you been listening to the WWI podcast? I listened to Episode 1 but was waiting for the topic to be complete. About 19 hours so far...

Nearly every episode would make an awesome movie. Stand out episodes from what I've heard include: Ten Cent Beer Night, Hugh Glass, Rainbow Man, The Jackson Cheese and AC/DC.

Re: What is your favorite podcast?

My 2 current favorites, and the only ones I look forward to listening to;

TV Guidance Counselor with Ken Reid
Screen Junkies' Movie Fights

I've stopped listening to Carolla on a daily basis, and I am only listening to others out of loyalty, but I'll probably drop them soon (Hollywood Babble-On and Film Vault, for example).

Re: What is your favorite podcast?

Since dumping Carolla it gave me reason to try out some new shows that I'm enjoying:

Nerd Machine's Picking Favorites w/Zachary Levi (Chuck) and Tyler Labine (many a failed shows) - show is fun but always feels rushed.

Gilbert Gottfried's Amazing Colossal Podcast - holy hell is this podcast funny.

I also downloaded Serial but haven't had a chance to check it out yet.

Short sighted and boneheaded.

I've listened to a couple of Alison's shows. It's decent but I do find it funny that one of Adam's complaints was her not reading his or Bryan's books, yet when interviewing Todd Glass she kept referencing his book.

I listen to that one, can't believe he was a finalist for the role of "Danny" in the Shining. Anyway, give a listen to "The Sounds in My Head", if you like Coverville you might like that one too.

Re: What is your favorite podcast?

Another favorite of mine is Never Not Funny. I was a casual listener of the free 30 minute episodes, but when they made the move to Earwolf I went all in. It's the only podcast that I pay for and it's well worth the money to me. Their Pardcastathon is something I look forward to every year.

Rejoice! They're recording a live episode at the SF Sketchfest this week:

http://sfsketchfest2015.sched.org/ev...0#.VNJAOZ3F8mB

I also imagine that they'll do another episode when U2's new tour starts. (They'll be in LA in May and June.) But yeah, it's still too infrequent.

Strasser quit Carolla to take a radio job at KABC in LA. When she started working at KABC, she also quit doing her podcast with Carolla's wife.

Maybe you don't understand the concept behind firing someone. That means you want them to depart.

Those LA U2 shows have come and gone... nothing. Hopefully, Adam Scott Aukerman will surprise us.

Meanwhile, this is a huge get:

President Obama is going to be on WTF With Marc Maron
By William Hughes Jun 18, 2015 3:22 AM

WTF With Marc Maron may have lost its Podcast Of The Zeitgeist crown to Serial over the last year or two, but that doesn’t mean Maron can’t still pull the occasional big guest. And while figures like Louis CK and Robin Williams were landmarks for the show, the name Maron announced on Thursday’s program is about as big as an interview get can get: President Barack Obama.

Yes, America’s commander-in-chief is apparently coming to the Cat Ranch, visiting Maron’s garage/recording studio as part of a Los Angeles tour that also includes fundraisers from Tyler Perry and Chuck Lorre. Obama is expected to sit down with Maron for an hour on Friday morning, for a special, commercial-free episode.

WTF won’t be Obama’s first time dipping his toe into the pool of online media; in 2014, he traded barbs with Zach Galifianakis and his famous foliage for an episode of Between Two Ferns. That exchange was part of Obama’s effort to expand awareness about HealthCare.gov, while a series of YouTube interviews he did earlier this year with popular online content creators, including Hank Green of the VlogBrothers, was designed to explain and double down on ideas expressed during the State Of The Union address. It’s not clear yet what issues he’ll be talking about with Maron—whose previous career includes work in political talk radio—or if he’s just decided to pull rank so that he can meet the comedian’s much-talked-about cats.

It’ll be fascinating to see how Maron’s irreverent style interacts with the obligations and expectations of an interview with one of the world’s most powerful men. The comedian built his reputation as a podcaster by breaking away from the standard interview formalities and niceties; WTF first gained national prominence thanks to an episode where Maron politely, but relentlessly, grilled Carlos Mencia about the persistent accusations of plagiarism that had dogged his career. It seems unlikely that he’ll be allowed to go after Obama with that same rigor, but both men are media savvy enough to know that a softball conversation won’t pass without remark. On Thursday’s episode, Maron expressed his desire to both do a “classic” style WTF interview with the president, while also “trying not to lose my shit.” Lofty goals.

The Obama episode of WTF is expected to go live on Monday, June 22.
http://www.avclub.com/article/presid...c-maron-221040

I'm no fan of the president and I expect the conversation to be full of softballs - and maybe twisted around to be more about Maron himself - but it'll at least greatly legitimize a media form I've been enjoying for 10 years now. (No, Serial didn't invent podcasting last year. )

I recently added this to my feed. I did listen to Ten Cent Beer Night, but I'll need to check out some of those other ones, too.

Never Not Funny's annual Pardcast-a-Thon is now streaming live for the next 12 hours or so:

I look forward to this every year. Funny stuff with some great guests. It's what convinced me to shell out for a premium membership. (To date, it's the only podcast that I pay actual money to listen to.)

I'm not a podcast listener usually but recently while working overnight stocking shifts
I needed something to listen to and found How did this get made?

It is really funny.
PAUL SCHEER, JASON MANTZOUKAS and JUNE DIANE RAPHAEL operate this pc.

They take moderately bad movies and dissect them as if they were Citizen Kane.

Another nod for Coverville. I still listen to the episode where he broadcast Ben Folds Five covering The Flaming Lips' song "She Don't Use Jelly". It's off the Lounge-a-Palooza album - one I've NEVER managed to get my hands on. The wording is a riot, and the BFF cover with full orchestration is wonderful!

I'm working on a solo acoustic guitar version of this for one of my next open mic nights. I figure, the lyrics are outrageous enough to stand alone, the guitar only needs to accompany my voice. And while converting from piano may sound tough, if you think of it as a sit-down 88-string guitar it's marginally easier.

Re: What is your favorite podcast?

There's a lot of crap out there. I find most podcasts unlistenable. There are a few exceptions, I'm currently digging on:

WTF - very famous interview show, mentioned repeatedly above.

Back episodes of Mike and Tom Eat Snacks- Michael Ian Black and Tom Cavanagh eat and review snacks. Very surreal, very silly and full of running jokes. New episodes become available very sporadically but there's a big back catalog.

The Next Picture Show - in-depth but non-pretentious film dissections. Not a lot of episodes yet but every one has been excellent so far.

Planet Money - short format economics podcast. Fun and tightly produced. Too many repeats and a bit too obvious sometimes, though.

Still Untitled: The Adam Savage Project - ex-Mythbuster babbles about whatever occurs to him with the guys from tested.com. Their YouTube stuff is good too.

The Telegraph Cycling Podcast - insider but awesome cycling (racing) podcast. Unless you know the difference between a puncheur and a roulleur, this might not be for you.

The Colombo Podcast - two gregarious and affable Glaswegians step through every Colombo episode in depth. Very enjoyable for fans of the show.

A Cast of Kings: bar none the best Game of Thrones podcast.

My personal vote for the most annoying podcast: The Vergecast featuring incredibly self-satisfied asshole Nilay Patel and a bunch of pretentious hipster "journalists". Ostensibly about consumer technology, really about how cool it is to be a 28 year old Williamsburg resident with stringy hair and just how clever everyone at the Verge is. Inexplicably popular.

I've gotten into Reply All recently. It bills itself as a show about the internet, which it is, but it's not a technical show. If you are new, here's some episodes that they recommend:

Any updates to this list? I've become completely disinterested in TV lately and could use something to fill a few more hours of the day.

Re: What is your favorite podcast?

Pod Save America and Pod Save the World are pretty good, depending on which way you lean politically. Hosted by several former Obama White House staffers. I think it's great.

Reveal is a true crime podcast. The first season tried a little too hard to be like Serial (still good) but the second season is much better. Follows criminal cases in the Atlanta area. Second season followed a case that got a lot of national attention about a kid left in a hot car.

Doughboys is easily my favorite podcast these days. Two self depreciating comedy writers, plus a guest, review chain restaurants. It sounds cheesy but the banter and downright mean spiritedness between the two hosts is hilarious.

Criminal is good, too. Another true crime format.

Detective is also good. Interviews and stories from former (and current maybe?) police officers. Can be pretty powerful.

Others I like, in no real order:
