Give me some ideas for a nice show.

You know I have been to Vegas enough to know most of what is out there, but I'm kind of stumped.

Going to Vegas 7/5 for 3 nights. Staying mid strip @ Venitien (sweet deal at $99 per night). Will just be the wife and I. No car but not afraid to take a taxi or tram (if running).

Typically we do one nice, top level show but I'm having a hard time deciding. We were going to go ahead and see Manilow be he won't be there then. Then we were going to see Danny Gans but my parents saw him recently and while they thought he put on a good show, didn't think he was worth the money (and unlike me, my parents got the money to throw around). If it was our anniversary or wife's b-day, I'd think about Celine but not sure I can sit through it. We have seen Mystere and have thought about "O" but don't know if it would be all that different.

Since just the wife and I wouldn't mind seeing an "adult" show but have not been all that impressed with the last couple we saw. Beside, most of them are not a top level shows and we might see one in addition to whatever big show we see.

Soooo, suggestions, ideas?

I'd go see Amazing Jonathan at the Sahara, but I'm a sucker for crazy/zany comedy. Penn and Teller also put on a great show at the Rio. Blue Man Group is also a can't miss. I know you've done Vegas quite a bit before, so you probably already know about these.

Checked O looks like they are fairly booked for the time we are there. They are dark one night we are there, but looks like can get the "cheap" seats (99 per ticket).

I'd like to see Blue Man Group, but wife says no. She is also not into Pen and Teller. She would like to see Mama Mia but I have never really been into Abba...

Will keep looking....

edit: you know, I think we have seen the amazing Jonathon...you are right good show...

Wait a second. You may have to sit through one or more of the more woman friendly Vegas shows. Make your wife go see Blue Man Group. Give and take.

I vote for O. I've seen it 3 times and would see it again.

I have also seen Mystere and Zumanity, but out of the 8 Cirque Du Soleil shows I have seen, O is my favorite.

When I'm in Vegas in a few weeks I will be seeing their KA show as well as Le Reve at Wynn (this one is not Cirque, but was done by the guy who did O and has since moved on).

I personally hated Blue Man Group and would never see them again. I didn't mind the music, but it was all the "crowd participation" and cheesy jokes that killed it for me. Also if you are claustrophobic, do not go. The moronic end will drive you insane.

Wife and I discussed and discussed. We decided we will not be doing a "top" level show this trip. We want a fun, casual, play it by ear trip. When we went to Vegas (kids and my parents) at spring break, we had a lot of luck at the 1/2 price ticket places (we bought from both). So we are going to do that again and perhaps see a show every night, just whatever catches our eye.

In that case, there is a place just down from the MGM on the strip (between MGM and the M&M's place) that sells a lot of shows at about 1/2 price on the day of the show (Legends, etc). It's worth checking out, for the types of shows you are looking for.

Also, I recommend Bottoms-UP for some afternoon fun.

I disagree with this. I loved Mystere, but really didn't like O, and thought it wasn't worth the billing or the price.

Maybe check out of the new Cirque shows, haven't seen those, or even read any reviews, I believe they have a sorta "adult" one in NY, NY now.

Shows I can recommend..
- Amazing Johnathan
- Penn & Teller
- Mystere
- Blue Man Group (but think you should see this in another city at a pretty good savings.. almost the same show from what I remember)
- Showgirls of Magic? This was cheap, since you can get half price tix, think 25 each and that included 2 drinks was at the san remo, soon to be the hooters casino I believe. It's fun and for 25 bucks nice, full price I wouldn't do it, since the place is a dive in general..
- EfX or whatever it's called at MGM. Is this still there even?!? It's the one with rick springfield, yes I thought it was pretty good. Although it might have to do with free comp tickets through that one vegas online scam. We had first seats center, it was funny to see him singing Jessie's girl at our table hahah

Oh you sat by Kerri like the Lotion too huh?

No I still think "O" is the best, the other Cirque's you can see similar style shows that travel thru the US, but none will be anything like "O".

Yea, we went to both at Spring Break. They use to be owned by the same folks, but evidently the city got on them so they split. What was impressive is that even tho the lines looked long, it went quick. And if you bought from them once, you were a VIP member and didn't have to wait again next time around....

I like Mystere a lot but 'O' is still my favorite by far.

OK we ended up seeing Skintight and Star Trek! Yea, yea, Star Trek not really a show, but oh well.

We got both shows at 1/2 tickets and for four tickets (1 for each of us for each show) was right at $100.00. Didn't think that was to bad. Then for Skintight you exchange the vouchers and I gave the guy a $5.00 (I know, big tipper) and he gave us like 8th row on the end. When we showed up for the show and say our seat, I ask the dude if they had any better seat while handing him a $10.00 and he put us at a booth by ourselves which was right next to the high roller booth. Cool.

Yea, Star Trek was good. I had not seen it since they added to it.

Both the wife and I really like Skintight. It was one of the more enjoyable "adult" shows we have seen. Good singing, dancing and they didn't always take themselves so seriously. And while the chicks were hot, there where three guy hotties to keep the girls happy as well.

Venitien was awesome! Really nice rooms! We got in right at the wrong time though, we got in at 2:00 and few rooms were ready. The $20.00 trick would have worked for an upgrade, but our room would not have been ready till 5:00pm, so we passes. Still we had a "luxury suite" and it really was awesome!
