How do I get my smoke detector to shut up?

it went off at lunch, guess I caused more smoke than I thought, but it just wouldnt shut up so I took the battery out. Now when I try to put the battery back in, it is still going off. What do I do?

Open it up and lick the radioactive parts.

Actually, if you have any canned air, try that. The sensor might still have smoke particles in it. I'm guessing, but it sounds reasonable, no?

Is it hardwired as well? Could be another one in the office is unhooked. They communicate to each other and if one is unplugged the other goes off. Took me forever to figure that out in my new house. Make sure they are all hooked up right if that is the case.

Ask her if she's talking so much in order to lose weight.

Every time I make a grilled cheese sandwich, this strange lady starts screaming FIRE! FIRE!. I'm afraid to even think about making a BLT.

Smoke detectors are for smokers. These are the only people who couldn't smell smoke when surrounded by it.

What WP said. Press the RESET button, vacuum the device, and (maybe) replace battery.
If all else fails...
