Deputy hit by truck on roadside (video included)

Saw this on last night's local news and found the video online this morning.

A local deputy was assisting a motorist on the side of the road when a truck smacks into him. Pretty amazing that he not only survived, but was only bruised.

Video (ignore the commercial that plays first)

HOLY CRAP!! That's amazing. Just totally ran over the poor guy though. I'm sure his family loves having that footage played over and over again.

At the end of the segment the reporter says that the deputy gave consent for the video to be shown.

None of us would have read this if there was no video.

That was crazy.

Also, can you believe the great deals they have on over 850 vehicleas at White Bear Lake Hyundai?

I found the interviewed cop's statement disturbing as well...

"It may be that God simply did not want another Ramsey County peace officer this week but we are very thankful for that."

God later stated in a press release, "Oh well...maybe next week."

that is some crazy shit. i can only assume he managed to fulfill some tenet of physics by moving away from the vehicle as it hit him and just kind of bounced off. Absolutely miraculous that he didn't have a single boken bone.

I still can't really figure out why the pickup was skidding into them in the first place.

I saw this video on the morning news yesterday. Ignoring the fact that he was steamrolled by that thing at 50 mph, the way his head snapped back alone looks like it should have caused permanent damage.

They are saying the truck was going about 55, hit the police cruiser, then it hit the ladies car at about 50 when it bounced off and hit him. If it hadn't hit that ladies car, they think it would have rolled on top of him.

And they're saying he has only minor injuries!

Did you see her freak out, she started running towards him, then realized she probably wouldn't do any good, and ran towards the cruiser, I assume to use his radio.

Yeah, really. I dunno, I usually drive more carefully when I notice a stopped police car up ahead, and give them room. I don't know what the hell that asshole was doing. He should definitely be charged.

There are so many idiots on the road that feel they have to stare at any vehicle or police action on the side of the road. There's an old saying about motorcycling that also applies here. If you stare at something long enough, you'll hit it.

I have seen cars that try so hard to get over when a cop is on the side of the road they cut other cars off. Who knows what happend here. I am amazed as well the cop did not die.
