Dumpster treasure

Took some trash down to the apartment complex dumpsters today and saw two 17inch CRTs sitting next to the dumpster on the pavement. So of course I threw them in the back seat. One only gets a thin horizontal psychedelic colored line. But the other, a Nokia 447Xi Plus works fine. Well there's a very slight ghosting of dark things on white backgrounds, but it's minimal. Considering I had a 14 or 15in non flat CRT this is a huge upgrade. Too bad it fills my entire desk, going to have to mess around with its placement.

Fine, fine, great, great, but what about DVD cases and inserts? Did they have any?

I usually set anything worthy or reusable next to, rather than in, the dumpster. I even label it with "Free" and "Works". Just two days ago I set out a gigantic box filled with hundreds of VHS movies I had taped over the years. It was gone within a day. I've also gotten a great Trinitron monitor the same way, someone left it out with a note that said "free". Took it home and it worked beautifully. Still using it on my FTP server to this day.

omg those guys are gross eating food from dumpsters. Sealed or not, my life is not so bad that i can't goto the store and buy my food. I can't see myself diving for food if i have enough money to pay for it. Monitors and stuff are fine if you see them. I'm not however going to go specifically searching for this stuff and would NEVER eat food from a dumpster unless i was starving.

I swear I typed Danol. Either my headaches are becoming something else, or someone changed my post.

Either way, I was thinking danol.

Man, they should follow me around. When a tenant leaves, I don't save anything. I don't want to take the time to go through it. I dump clothes, stereo equipment, kitchen ware, furniture, etc.

You should post there and tell them that you throw all kinds of shit away. They would probably have a heart attack reading that.

"Leaves" as in "evicted" or "leaves" as in "you murdered him"?

Who leaves with stereos? KVR you could start a small carriage industry of ebay people selling your goods. Cut receipts 50/50.

Ususally evicted, but some times they just "leave." If there is a lot of junk, I'll get a 2nd hand store to come clean it out. For about $1,000 worth of what they will sell, they give me about $150.

My daughter's friend's dad is a trash man... he says he finds all kinds of great stuff! Last year he found some collectible Elvis records or something like that and make a few hundred bucks off 'em!

I used to dumpster dive behind KFC and Pizza Hut. You wouldn't believe the food they throw out at the end of the night.
