I guess since seeing someone talking to themselves, seemingly, goes against the general norms it causes people to become outraged. I don't see posts about people complaining about two people speaking in public. It is rather amusing sociologically speaking. BTW I don't have nextel...and I keep my voice down when on the phone in public. And the loud speaking people do annoy me.

I hate it when I'm buying a Snapple and the people in line have those damn walkie talkies.

My fiancee and I have a pet peeve about this as well. We hate them, and living in GA every redneck down here has one hanging off their belt.

Well, apart from the fact that they're illegal to buy, illegal to import, illegal to own, and illegal to use...

(especially since the Dept of Homeland Security apparently is starting to look at them as a national security issue)

I *was* buying a Snapple when the person in line behind me was talking on one of those phones.

Edit to add: I could have made it three by starting a thread about all the MILF's I see at the grocery.

Another problem I have with these phones is people using them while driving.
I often see people bringing the phone up to talk, then down again repeatedly.
I think that is more of a distraction then talking on an ordinary cell phone while driving. (which is already illegal)

So now I have another thing to worry about while riding my motorcycle. It wasn't bad enough that four out of five people that pull out in front of me are talking on their cell phone, now I gotta also watch out for more idiots constantly using their walkie-talkies.

I find the new phones that people wear over their ears far more obnoxious than the nextel phones. Most people (again most...not all) seem to want to keep at least both sides of their conversation private & usually keep the walkie-talkie conversations quick.

I can't tell you how many times I am in a public place & these assholes with the ear phone (I have no idea what the proper term for them is) are talking extremely loud. I guess because the phone is right in their ear, they can no longer hear themselves to adjust there own personal volume. Sure it's nice these things are hands-free...great for driving but some people take it to the extreme. They shop with them, jog with them, etc. and at the same time wildly talking with their hands & looking like a crazy homeless person.

How many of you have looked at these people like they were nuts or thought they were talking to you but then you see the ear phone & realize what's going on? It just seems that people at least have to put down a cell phone to push a buggy or have the inconvenience of carrying the damn thing around if they insist on having on their conversations in public.
