Unregistered sex offender living next door...

Or "was living" I should say. I just found out today on the radio this morning that police arrested a guy that lived on my street for failing to register as a convicted sex offender. They didn't give an address and I didn't recognize the name, nor do I know if he was a trekkie or not, but it kinda freaked me out. I don't very many people that live on my street, so this guy could have been practically next door for all I know. The truth be told, I'd rather this guy be in jail than be legally living next to me anyway, but now I'm wondering what other perverts and miscreants might be lurking around the neighborhood. Has anyone seen THEEK lately??

Why do they have to register themselves? Who's going to admit to that if they don't have to?

Remember that thread a couple weeks ago where a member here saw police cars across the street? Apparently they found a dead body in the basement and no one was sure if the person was murdered or not... What if this was THEEK?

They have to register because it is the law in most sexual based offenses.

People who commit sexually-based offenses are likely to be repeat offenders, and according to Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, in our criminal justice system, sexually-based offenses are considered especially heinous.

Sex offenders should be made to wear a scarlett letter or something.

I was looking on the web at offenders from where I grew up and my arch-enemy from grade school was listed there. I was like booya, take that you sick freak!! I am going back there next week and would like to look him up and be like remember me? This is what I am doing now, blah blah blah. I hear you are a sex offender!

The only thing I do not agree with registering is that some "offenders" might have been convicted on a non-sexual offender charge. IIRC in some areas if you got caught doing the deed with your wife in public, you would be have to register as a SO if convicted. I am all for having true SOs (rapist, stalkers, voyeurs, etc) register and having to do so vocally and publicly, but not for some of the charges I have seen constitute SO registration.

Okay, I'm sorry. But sex crimes were the only way I could get Chris Meloni to come over to my house.

shouldn't the registration be automatic since they're already in the system?

Or at least either a Klingon or Vulcan uniform.

The upside of him being unregistered while living on your street was that had he been registered, it could've affected your property value.
