Mother Nature April Fools joke, 23 days late: Snow

That was at 5:30am or so, when my cat decided to be a pain in the ass and wake me up

yeah - it rained here last night and was pretty cold... there was also this bizarre come and go windstorm that uprooted a tree outside the club I was at.

Yup, we have around 2" in grassy areas, mostly melted on pavement, but I'm in northern 'burbs. Not sure if Detroit got more or less.

This reminds me of the dirty joke about 7 inches of Snow in the middle of April...

I've never seen Cleveland like this before. It was eerie looking outside this morning and seeing all of the trees in half-bloom, loaded down with snow.

It got worse as the day went on. Many of the maple trees in the neighborhood actually collapsed under the weight of the snow. One tree, maybe 40' tall at its prime, cracked in half and bowed over the road - it's like having a huge green and white arch... equal parts bizarre, cool, and sad.

The snow plows and salt trucks basically just gave up. One of the main freeways, I-77, was buried in snow 4" deep except for one set of tire tracks (which only had maybe 1" of snow), but at one point, the tracks just... exited the freeway. The authorities hadn't shut down the freeway going forward, but it was completely impassable - the freeway was completely buried. Oh, and widespread power failures had knocked out most of the street lights, so it was completely dark, too.
