Poker felt, etc. (build your own).

I have toyed recently with the idea of building my own table (still thinking of buying as well), but I have had a hard time finding the "ingredients". Looking at "Gordo's poker table plans" he show the felt as being a $14 item, but I don't want some cheap crap, I want quality felt. So I looked at speed felt. But that sells for damn near $200 on the internet. Seems that most of this stuff is priced such that you might as well buy one already made.

Anyone know of good places to buy (or at least price) felt, vinyl, foam, etc?

my roomate went to joanne fabrics or something and bought their felt for his table. i forget how much he spent but it wasn't overly cheep (50-100$ maybe?) but after playing on it a couple months it has gotten pretty nasty. fuzzing up and such. would definately spend more $ on casino grade felt next time.

i thought you didn't want to build a table dave?

I don't really want to but I am decently handy and my inlaws have been at my house too often, so I need a project away from the house. I actually need 2 or 3 nice tables. One will be from ECD as soon as the rest of my comps post, one I will probably buy, and one I will make.

I did find this for felt and padding.

Looks like a decent price and they are for poker tables specifically.

I bought some dark green royal velvet at Jo-Ann's, and it's worked out great. If i remember, I think it was like $36-$40 or so for enough to cover the table. We built the table in early January, and it's held up great so far. We play on it probably 2-3 times a week for a few hours at a time.

Here's another forum to check out, this is where I read about people using velvet: http://www.scottkeen.com/forum/viewf...a30db1a0c8342d

Well, I ordered up some suited poker cloth, foam, vinyl, etc. So it should be here in a week or so, and then my wife and kids leave for about a week. So I should be able to knock this out. I'll see how it goes.
