Yes, they break, especially since most people buy the cheapest plastic-bladed models they can find.

No shovel here.

Oh wait....it was 80+ outside, and if it ever snowed down here.....the old people would revolt and burn down the entire state of FL. (It can never be too hot for 'em. )

Ive got several. lots of great around the house uses. flip your pancakes, hang your coat on it, fold and press laundry. it also makes a nice decorative piece just to hang onthe wall.

Well, if you are going to shovel snow, make sure you wear your Das Boots.

Even the metal ones get chewed up pretty fast around here with all the salt we have to use on the sidewalks.

Heh heh heh. 4/5

Around here, we have had a lot of mild winters in the last several years. When the shovels out of use for a while, they tend to break/get lost/get thrown away. So when the snow hits, there's a rush on shovels.

And I'm guessing the original poster started this thread because HE has been looking all over town for a shovel and decided to rant about it. The irony of that is, why don't YOU already have a shovel, sir?

That would appear to be the question of the hour.

Because the local news is probably scaring people into believing that you can never have enough snow shovels.

I had to buy a new one a few weeks back because one of mine broke. It was not a cheap model either. Weird.

I have been using the same old snow shovel for at least 20-25 years. It has been left outside for months at a time. It has been used to break ice on the sidewalk.

I guess people were shorter back in the day, because when I finally bought a new shovel a couple of months ago, I noticed that the handles are significantly longer on the 21st century models.

The new shovel broke the first time I used it.

You must have been abusing it. Always take care of your shovel, and your shovel will always take care of you.

I don't want to hear anything about shovels. I had 3 yards of gravel delivered to my house on Saturday morning.

I'm so rich when I open up a snow shovel store and stock like 50,000 and just jack up the price to $50 a piece when everyone else runs out.

I'll see your 3 and raise you 15. LOL

I've never bought a shovel in my life. I must have around 8 or 9 of them, all hand-me-downs. The one in the picture has to be at least 50 years old or more, probably first used to shovel coal. They don't make them like they used to.
