Best place to rent a car?

I will be putting my car in the shop for a few days and will have to rent a car. Any ideas who offers the best deal/rates? I live in the Dallas area if it makes a difference.

Thanks.

This reminds me of the time that user Slouthwest asked which was the best budget airline.

I've had mixed results with them. In Houston, they' were great, but at the Atlanta Airport, it was a mess. The short of it was that I registered with them online at a given rate. When I went to pick it up, it turned out that they were busy and they jacked up the rate (more than doubled my reservation). All of the other rental stores were closed because it was late at night and my car was in Houston. As a result, I was extorted to pay the higher rate. I spent over a year filing complaints and not so much as an apology.

Since then, I've used Hertz, except the last time I was in LA (I used Enterprise there, and it went smoothly -- free upgrade even)

I've never really had a problem with any of them, but I only use Alamo now, because they upgraded me free once when I was desperate. The car I reserved was not big enough for 5 adults on a long road trip, a fact I realized about 2 hours into it. When we reached our final destination, about 6 hours away, I went to the nearest rental office to get a bigger vehicle, expecting to have to pay a fortune because it was a one-way rental with no advance reservation. They gave me a minivan for no additional charge, which saved me six continuous hours of bitching from my family and made the trip back pleasant. They saved my vacation, so I'm a customer for life now.
