All kidding, joking and bagging on me and my posts aside(and please don't use that as a quote as I know some of you too well)

"I just got back from the doctor...its not good"

All kidding, joking and bagging on me and my posts aside(and please don't use that as a quote as I know some of you too well). The Doctor has indicated to my mom that she has liver cancer and that she might not be around much longer(they've given her 6months to a year). I am writing in hopes that you could please keep her in your thoughts and prayers. My family would really appreciate it. I'm just in some much shock right now I can't believe it.
While my persona at DVDTalk has alot of the time been the boy who cried wolf, to post messages that are dumb, and irrelevant, please understand that this is indeeed NOT FAKE, and I am seriously asking for your thoughts to be with her.

Her name is Anne Marshall. Say a little prayer!

I wish her well, but I think you might want to think about posting this somewhere where you have a different persona.

Suddenly being told to quit drinking so much pop seems minor.

I merged the two threads under the assumption that was you accidentally posting this thread twice and not both you and your brother simultaneously posting the same topic.

Thanks General Zod. I appreciate that. I don't know what to say. She went for that "annual checkup" that woman have to have when they've(I believe, don't quote me) reached a certain age passed menopause as they have a great chance of cancer develop. She never drinks, only smoked in High school. It's pretty bad.

Let me get this straight.

Your mom goes to the doctor (I assume gynecologist) and he diagnoses liver cancer on the same day and has a life expectancy prognosis?

sort of. She also had a cist(sp.?) that she needed to have removed on her body. We thoguht the cist was nothing to be concerned about. Come to find out its cancerous and its spread.

No, it was the gynaglogist

So they called you all in and explained everything to you? Did they do a cat-scan? How do they know it spread? Also.. you wrote cancer "on" the body .. that's much different than cancer "in" the body.. which is why i'm asking.

My mom called me. I spoke very briefly with my dad. When you mom is dying you aren't really aware of everything around you. I wash just in shock. My mom couldn't talk, my dad couldn't talk. Its even very difficult for me to write this now.

Sorry to hear about your mom.

My mom died a long while from colon cancer, it was pretty painful for me to see her dying in a hospital bed, I believe it took maybe 3-4 days before she passed away. You have mine prayer.

I know. I'm just trying to get this straight. You wrote though that you "Just got back from the doctor". So you didn't go to the doctor, you got a phone call instead?

Doesn't much matter I suppose. I hope the prognosis is way off and they are able to treat her. We've come a long way. Try and stay positive.

No, No, I was suppose to put that in quotes, as that was what my mom said to me over the phone. I wasn't there. Jesus Christ I can't believe this is happening. Dammit!!

My mom died of cancer last year, which started as breast cancer and then spread to the liver and upwards to the brain. I know what a difficult experience it can be, and the best advice I can give you is to make sure she is as comfortable as possible and surrounded by people who love her, especially if her time is short. If you aren't with her now, I would say at least go and visit as soon as you can.

I'm very sorry to hear about your mother. I might look into getting a second opinion, though that may have already been done...

I'm trying to come up with some tidbit of wisdom to give you, but the best advice I can offer is to try to stay positive and spend as much time with her as you can. If you have ever wanted to say something to her, this is the time to do it!
