Very sad but really, how can this be a shock to anyone who ever read one of Thompsons books or knew of him? There was no way this guy was going to just lay down and die.

Wow. Amazing to see he shot himself. But from everything I've read of his, I'd always imagined that he'd go somehow other than natural causes

he wanted to drive off the side of a Kentucky mountain into some gas station. That would have been a better way to go.

This makes The Rum Diary a bitter sweet movie to come out later this year. We'll get to see Depp play him again.. but we lost a great one.
