Sock-in-a-sock question

I know when I was younger, I used to place a sock in a sock, to create a weapon. I can't imagine I was the only one that did this.

Did anyone else create this contraption? If so, what did you call it. I know where I was growing up it was referred to as a "Beaker Bocker" I'm just trying to gauge if anyone else had heard of something like this.

My uncle used to place a valencia orange or two in a sock and beat me with it.

What the heck would you beat with a sock in a sock? Sounds like a pillow fight.

I remember batteries in a sock.

Re: Sock-in-a-sock question

Hmmm, I was hoping by now there'd be a couple more responses to this. Whenever I reference beaker bockers, I just get blank stares.

Re: Sock-in-a-sock question

I don't THINK so ...

P.S. to the OP: a few cans of soda in a sock, as immortalized by a young Sean Penn in 1983's "Bad Boys," would be my weapon of choice. Actually though, now that I remember, it was a laundry bag. Oh, shit.

Re: Sock-in-a-sock question

I used to roll 2 socks together to make a baseball and play in the living room. It was great. We had a large living room room with a loft upstairs that my dad used as an office. It was all open but had had a railing so it was essentially a homerun fence for my living room baseball field.

Re: Sock-in-a-sock question

Remember squish balls? I used to put one of those in a sock and hit my brother and his friends with it. Good times.

Is this first time you've revisited this thread in the last seven and a half years?

It sure seemed to flat line after those initial responses back in early 2005.

Re: Sock-in-a-sock question

I never knew that. You guys are so creative.

All I did was put my hand inside a sock and pretend it was a puppet.
