Funny thread on a guy whose car got booted...

I thought this was an entertaining read about a guy who got his car booted at a community college.

Yeah, saw that over on Anandtech. If memory serves, his "solution" is on page 4 and his explanation of the solution was later, page 7 maybe?

What a doofus.

Hilarious....almost the perfect solution. He didn't remove the boot, or damage it. back to square one.

I am curious as to how much his fines are...he never does say (aside from $2.3 million)...

Yeah, me too. I was also wondering if he got nailed for the illegal plates when they caught him due to the rat.

The rat part sucked but it was funny how they all started accusing and threatening each other.

The thing I don't get is that he was only delaying his paying for the tickets (which he'd need to do to graduate) while risking being caught committing a crime in the process. Then again, the people on that forum do not seem to be the most mature bunch I've seen (the part where they turn on each other is probably the funniest bit of the thread). Oh, well...I hope the guy didn't get the book thrown at him; he didn't damage the boot, after all.

I browsed through many of the pages looking for the posts by the OP (I just cannot muster the time to read it all...)...what page does he get ratted out on? Does the OP post the thread himself?

Wow. It's really getting ugly over there. Someone e-mailed one guy's girl friend a link to one of his threads that made her want to break up with him.

They also have apparently identified the rat and someone put up a picture of him holding his newborn baby.

Someone who knows him posts that he was ratted out on page 13 and says he hadn't heard from him in a day or two since...the OP hasn't posted there since....

Indeed. Posting the potential snitch's pic with his newborn is particularly creepy.

Update: the OP's back (on p. 19). He's going to have to pay his fines, but the security guys were apparently cool. The "snitch" turned out not to be.

The end.

It takes a really strange turn... if you look at the pictures closely.

Look at the back tire while it's on the car (both pics), the tire seems to move. Also, the back tire seems four inches or so out from where it should be.

I'm thinking that he found the tire or whatever, leaned it up against his car which had a donut on it, and made up the story. Take a close look at the pictures, you'll see what I mean.

I see what you are saying but what about the picture of the tire off the car being at night and the others in the sunshine. That would support his story.

I found it hilarious how they call turned on each other. I wonder what the average age there is.

oh...there was a snitch allright....
Anyway we sit down and he goes about telling me how they figured it out. Someone (assuming its a H-T member) wrote them an email, sent them the thread, told them my name, basically everything...

The "officer" that I spoke with is a vetran of the police department for 20+ years and told me that he didnt know who I was and couldnt trace me ect...but after that email it was all over. After finding out who I was, he pulled up my info found my addy and drove to my apt. to see if he could find my car!!!!

No....i believe the police, once they know someone's name, have access to sensitive databases that list addresses and the like....they are called phone books.

That thread link was passed around everywhere. It's not hard to fathom that one person who saw it decided to email security about it. I mean, thousands of people must have seen it, and it's only a short jump to looking up his school's info and sending off an email.

Once again, I thank providence that this forum isn't like the vast majority of other forums.
