So...ever had bronchitis? How long did it last? (Mrs. Pusser is on day 9)

The doctor told her it can last up to 10 days and she's sick of being sick.

She wondered if she should go back to the doctor.

Your experience with this deadly affliction?

Has she passed the stage of being sick and still has the nasty cough? The one time that happened to me I ended up having whooping cough, which I think is treated the same way as far as meds go. They do stick this metal thing in your nose and far into your sinus cavity and scrape around though, oh man that was rough. I passed out from it.

Either way, if you're worried, why not get checked out? Sometimes it is best just to know, giving you a piece of mind can make you feel twice as good...

Her cough sounds much better, but she feels fatigued. She wonders if it's partly due to getting too much sleep.

She almost went to the doctor again today, but decided to give it another day or two.

Maybe get her out and about with some very light activity? If the cough is clearing up she just might be really bored from sleeping so much and just needs to snap out of the sickness mentally? Also, her diet might have something to do with it. I know when I'm sick I tend to eat the same foods over and over, and that really messes with my body.

I had acute bronchitis for a month once. The doctor gave me an inhaler to control it. I swear that had to be the worst ever.

Definitely go back to the doctor. If she is feeling fatigued, then she may be fighting something else. I've had Bronchitis a few times. The last time I had it, it was very bad... going from a cold -> flu -> bronchitis -> pneumonia -> collapsed lung. Bad stuff! Luckily that was my last winter in NY (4 years ago).

I'm the type that doesn't go to the doctor unless I'm carted away to one. But now, when it comes to anything respiratory, I go immediately... I don't take any chances.

She took Z-Pac and it's gone.

She didn't like the sound of that scraping thing in her head.

She didn't get blue horse pills.

She's doing a bit of work to see how she feels. Ten minutes of laundry, cleaning, etc. with rest in between.

It took me almost 3 week to completely get over my run in with it last month.

WebMD.com has some info on what to do with it.

There's a viral thing going around this year, so the z-pak won't cover it. Only lots of time. Both me and my son had it this year. The pediatrician told me it could take up to 6 weeks to get rid of it. Of course, I think she was preparing me for the worse case senario. I think It only took us 3 weeks.

I get bronchitis (or something similar) every now and again. I'm just now getting over the last bout with it. I was coughing for a couple of months before I finally went in and saw the NP. She said my lungs were basically clear, and no sign of infection, but she gave me some kind of antibiotic (which I cannot now recall), and some cough syrup with codeine. The cough syrup helped me sleep at night, but the antibiotics didn't seem to do much.
I was still coughing a month later, so I bought a humidifier for the bedroom. That cleared it right up after just a few days.

I've had it twice in my life - once this past january and another time about 5 years ago.

The last time I had it, it lasted for about 12 days, It was pretty bad and to top it off, as soon as it was over I got a nasty head cold.

Good times

She may be low on iron from being sick.

I hope she gets to feeling better soon.

I got bronchitis last October. I had it for about a week before I went to the doctor. With antibiotics it took about 3 weeks to clear up totally.

I'm on Day 9 of my bronchitis as well. Felt totally miserable last Monday and Tuesday. Gradually felt better. Now down to just the cough which has been improving over the last several days. Just took some cough syrup for it.

The last time I had it was probably 20 or so years ago.

Don't ignore bronchitis. My wife's uncle had it for 2 months before he saw a doc. Strong antibiotics cleared it up, but left him with a lot of scar tissue on his lungs. He's lost about 60% of his lung capacity. The docs have told him that if he gets any upper chest ailment now, it will likely kill him.

I had a nagging cough for a couple of weeks, its a real pain. I saw the doctor and she only gave me cough medicine, said that antibiotics wouldn't help.
