84 year old man accused of drowning dog. Your punishment?

If found guilty, what do you think his punishment should be?

Due to his age and general crankiness, I'd go with house arrest for three months. The home would be outfitted with an audio tape of a pure bred toy poodle yapping non-stop. If turned off, the next step would involve beastiality and not his choice of interaction.

Man Accused In Barking Dog's Death

02-14-2005 5:31 AM

(Fairview Park, OH) -- Charges will likely be filed this week against an 84-year-old man accused of killing his neighbor's pet. Fairview Park police say George Taips (TAYPS) allegedly took the pure bred toy poodle Friday night, and the dog was found drowned Saturday in the Rocky River. Taips told police he took the animal after becoming annoyed with its barking. He'll be charged with theft and cruelty to animals.

I hate yappy toy poodles. He should probably be considered for a Public Service award. Damn "kick me" dogs, get a real dog.

I didn't want to be the first one to say it.

I like animals, and I wouldn't "pull the trigger" (so to speak), but DAMN. There's this old woman who has two of these little monsters and whenever she's walking them it's just yip yip yip.

Sounds like "theft, felony of the fourth degree" the Ohio penalty for which is 6 to 18 months in the hoosegow. The killing of the dog, classified as a companion animal, is a 1st degree Misdemeanor in Ohio with a fine up to $1000 and/or imprisonment up to 90 days.

Oh, come on. We're all thinking it -- the old man should be drowned in the Rocky River.

Spoiler:
OK, not really. But his ass should be thrown in jail. I don't care if he's old. Somebody loved that dog. If somebody killed one of my pets, I'd want him to pay the maximum penalty, regardless of whether he was 16, 36, or 96.

As long as the fine is less than half of the hefty reward, I agree.

Yapping dogs bother him, but crabby old people bother me. Therefore I think I should be able to drown him and get a medal and a possible cash prize.

Lock him up for a year. Being old doesn't give one the right to kill a neighbor's pet regardless of how annoying it may be.

I really and truly do hope that some people in this thread are just joking.

Cut his social security benefits.
Cancel his membership in the AARP for the rest of time.

After he pays maximum fines and/or does time, whatever is required by law.

Apart from the dog owner torching his house, a decent fine is really all you can do.
