Why do we get carppy halftime shows?

not sure where this should go (sports, music, tv or other), but why do they still put on carppy halftime shows.. right now it is kelly clarkson, trace adkins and ashlee simpson... just horrible.... at least people were booing after ashlee's song

Because some people enjoy those shows. In case you didn't know, Ashlee Simpson IS quite popular. Why? I don't know, but she is. It's the truth of this world we live in...soemtimes, other people like to see things we don't.

Do 12 year-old girls watch the Orange Bowl?

Not to most people who would be interested in watching this game. Which is why this pathetic display of non-talent was rightfully booed as soon as it ended.

I switched off the half time show last night after I heard them announce that the lineup would include: "Superstar Ashlee Simpsom!!"

Glad to hear she was booed.

I don't know. I'm not one for watching sports but as a former high school marching band member, I do enjoy watching a half-time show occassionally. It seems to me that they've really gone down hill over the last few years.

Anyway, if you don't like the half-time shows you can easily fix this situation with a TiVo.

Anyone who thinks college football fans and Ashlee Simpson fans intersect is just nuts.

Plus her blatent rip-off of Nirvana in her show just royally pissed me off.

Probably already posted here, but check out this site to learn what some are doing about crappy half-time shows, and crappy entertainment in general...

Thats what I don't get. I understand that she is popular for some reason, but not with that kind of croud. I have no idea who would think that would be a good combo. I would even think that Simpson would realize that was not her type of fan and not accept the invite.

Kinda like that Justin Timberlake guy doing the superbowl last year...

If people want to hear justin or ashely, they can just turn on mtv...

That's the trouble with these mega-media conglomerates like Disney.
Disney owns ABC and Ashlee Simpson, therefore they are going to keep bombarding us with her on radio, TV, in print and on film until they wear us down into accepting her as our favorite singer. People get brainwashed into thinking she's popular ("I see her a lot, she must be popular") and go along with it. The next thing you know she really IS popular. It's the same reason Ashlee was a host and performer on "New Year's Rockin Eve." I always think back to the "Ludovico technique" scene in "A Clockwork Orange" when I see these losers getting mass-marketed like this.

While I didn't enjoy it (walked out), it was better than the weirdo hippy crap of the Olympics.

Hung & Simpson must have the same coreographer.

Hell, even I thought her song was catchy when I heard it on the radio. But, obviously, there's so many singers out there today that are voice-modded onto a CD.

Now, Ashlee can't take the chance to lip-synch, even though I'm sure more singers do it than people realize.

Offspring comes to mind as another horrible live band. The worst I've ever seen. Well, until that travesty last night, that is.

Even if someone WAS a fan of hers, I don't see how they could even equate what's on the radio with what was on TV last night. At least everyone there booed her ass. The look on her face was priceless.

One reason I like country music is that I've never seen anyone live that sucked. Trace Adkins, well, I didn't see him last night (I went to take a piss) but most country singers sound identical to what they sound like on their album. If I had to wager, I'd say if you didn't like Trace, you probably wouldn't like his music anyway.

I don't like his music. 'course, I'm a fan of King George more'n anybody else.

It was the end to some gay-ass contest.

A section of some forty people or so got to use their ticket stubs as free entry passes to Disney World or something.
