Anyone a member of Star Wars Insider?

Ugh...so annoyed with this magazine.

I've been a fan club member since 1989 and have every issue printed. They just were taken over by another printing company and the last two issues have been mailed without the plastic protective wrapping and with the label printed right onto the magazine. To make matters worse, newsstand issues do not have the white label section in the corner, they come polybagged AND they are packaged with exclusives only found in the newsstand version.

So what do you get for your $40 membership? A wrinkled magazine with printing on it and access to their oh-so-wonderful website with content found on others. It really sucks that this had to happen and maybe i'm just a fanboy pissing in the wind but it's really aggravating that now I'm going to have to stay on top of this magazine and constantly buy it on the news stand to get a clean copy of it. I just got off the phone with a rep and she was very nice. She also said that they've gotten a lot of complaints about this from collectors but ultimately it was Lucas who is responsible. She just kept saying Lucas. Is he REALLY sitting in on meetings for the fan club and saying..."let's cut spending and ship them WITHOUT the bags and exclusives?" Even she agreed with me. There is no positive side for being a part of the fan club.

*sigh*

Just really pissed at the moment. I'm surprised theforce.net hasn't picked up on this.

Are you suggesting that gays don't play sports?

None that I know of. And yes, I was pushing a stereotype. Deal with it.

This isn't about sports. Sports tend to bore me.

No, man, he's not an athlete. Appearantly gay atheletes can't be Star Wars fans. Or gay Star Wars fans can't be athletes. Or something like that, I'm pretty confused myself. Maybe we need a Venn diagram or other visual aid.

That stupid diagram just made me snort out loud at work.

And why bother with the Insider when most of it gets scanned and posted online anyways, and anything good on Hyperspace shows up in minutes?

Oh please god make someone photoshop Jet Li's head someone near the tsunami. I'd do it myself if I wasn't at work.

I hear ya freak. I subscribed from about 96-2000, and just lost interest. Too many ads, weaker content, etc... I can see the pics online and usually there is an open copy at the bookstore I can flip thru if I want to.

The older issues were great though. Interviews, interesting articles, etc.. I have them stored for future reference. Some of my favs was the cartoon episode guide, the return to tatooine, and the lost cut.

I just got back from lunch and I hate you all.

Except for artman

But I still really enjoy the magazine. I'll still buy it every month. I'll just have to haul my ass over to Virgin Megastore to pick it up.

By "gay" do you mean gay as in homosexual or gay as in lame?

I slap people who use the word "gay" to mean "lame." it's offensive.
