6 year old Florida girl brings crack to school

Link

ORLANDO, FL -- An Orange County first grader who brought to school more than one- thousand dollars worth of crack cocaine has been suspended and her mother is under investigation.

Sheriff's deputies say the 6-year-old girl said she found the bag of more than a dozen pieces of crack at home. But her mother said she must have gotten it trick-or-treating.

School officials sent a letter home with students yesterday, explaining how an anti-drug campaign led another student to recognize the crack and reassuring parents their children are safe.

The girl was removed from the classroom in accordance with district policy. Her principal said the girl's mother used a false address to get her into the school, so the child won't be coming back.

The Department of Children and Families is interviewing the mother.

The sheriff's office says they may never be able to prove from where the crack came.

I guess this can be linked to the other thread on What's the wierdest thing you ever got while Trick-0r-Treating.

Hmm, intent to sell or mid-recess snack?

I'd like to know if the 6-year old knew what it was that she brought to school.

That's tidy amount of crack, and a bit more than the typical crackhead would have on hand "just in case I have a party". The kid probably thought it was some sort of homemade candy or cookies (in fact, the term 'cookie' is applied to the thin round cake of crack left at the bottom of the beaker at the end of production). I vote that mom is either dealing or was holding for a small-time dealer BF.

Well, at least the kid didn't bring one of those little swiss army knives with the toothpick and tweezers in the handle. Now that would have been REALLY bad.

I wanted to find a picture of him talking to the school kids, and say "maybe this guy left it there", unfortunately I couldn't find a decent one.

The little girl thought she was just following directions. Being a new reader she misread "Back-to-School Sale" for "Crack-to-School Sale". Honest mistake.
