what do roses mean?

ive been dating a girl for about a month now and im wondering, if i get her a rose, does that "mean" anything?

i have NO IDEA how girls think and i dont want her to get the wrong idea. i just want to do something nice. girls like flowers, right? does the rose signify love or anything like that? i need to be sure.

In my house, roses mean that Daddy lost a fight.

i've always thought of roses as the "oh shit it's (valentine's day/birthday/anniversary) i need to get her flowers flower". go into the flower shop and have a look around and pick out a nice bouquet if you want to get her flowers. it'll probably end up being cheaper than roses that way too.

It doesn't mean anything beyond you like her. It doesn't mean you're going steady or anything.

if i do, i know who to ask. the idea that you offer help then whine about doing it is well, kinda funny.

You might want to look up the definition of sarcasm sometime.

Eh, I think that the emotional assignments to each color are ridiculous.

It depends who they come from and what events have occured recently.

Roses (or any flowers for that matter) can either mean 'A job well done' - 'I'm sorry' - 'I love you' or 'Let's sex.'

They can also just mean "I enjoy being with you".

As for color...what is her favorite? That is more telling. My wife never has been a big fan of red roses... However, we both like sterling (lavender) ones...so, those tend to be the 'special occasion' ones. Made sure I could get them when I proposed to her. Had them at the wedding.. etc..

Rose's on a Friday mean you're girl is gonna spend all weekend with her legs up in the air.

Spoiler:
But that's only if you don't get her a vase to with the roses....

A single rose means you're cheap and unoriginal, or you're 11.

I'd get her 1-2 dozen red roses now. A month is a while to be dating.

I think any color should be fine. The important thing is what you put on the card.

I'd rather get her whatever her favorite flower is. Don't just settle on a rose.

Also, it doesn't have to be roses. There are lots of other really nice flowers to send. I sent my wife a basket yesterday with with wheat and chili peppers mixed in with flowers. I thought it was silly but the florist assured me it was a nice autumn mix. My wife loved it, so I guess anything goes as long as she knows you're thinking of her.

Another thing you can do is get her something with a floral pattern on it. That way, she has something that will last longer than a week, but still gets to look at the pretty flowers. Japanese fans would be a good example.
