Cool dragon illusion...

Some of you may have seen this but here's a very cool illusion using a paper dragon.

Here's how to make your own.

Ha! Printing now... wonder if it works in person as well as it does when viewed through a camera...

edit: ah, you have to close one eye. only works in 2-D

Finished putting mine together. It's really cool, you just have to do it right. Stare at it for a bit and relax the eye, like if you're trying to see one of those 3D magic eye images. The dragon head suddenly jumps out at you, and as you move around the room it follows. Freaky, but neat!

Thanks nazz!

That is quite a trip. The video really is cool but I was wondering how close does the cut out come to looking like it does in that video?

It looks better than the video. This is the best illusion I've seen in a long time..

That is crazy. I'll have to print this thing out. Shame I haven't owned a printer since 97. I always save things and never print them out.

it helps to see the illusion if you look at it through a lens like through a digicam or a camcorder (maybe because you can't distinguish the folds?). Anyhow, great illusion once you "see" it.

Here's one i put together in a jiffy:

Was anyone other than me just waiting for a scary face to appear with a loud bang? I'm inter-paranoid these days.

This is the same concept behind those faces that look at you in the Haunted Mansion at Disneyland.

Yes!

So, is it really safe to click on the link or should I just go get a clean pair of undies right now?

You probably folded it wrong... but if you close one eye, the illusion should kick right in.

I guess I don't get what a "valley" fold is and what a mountian fold is.

I don't have a camera here at work.

Can someone else please post pictures
