Pictures from Sweden (very 56k unfriendly)

Well, I've been in Sweden for a little over two months, and today I went for a walk and took a number of pictures. I thought I'd make a thread to post some of the pictures I have taken in the past two months, so as to share them with my fellow Otters.

Here is a picture of my accomodations for the first month I was here (linked due to large size):

The apartment building I am living in, called Kungsmarken:

Here was a view from the window of my apartment. I was on the top (6th) floor:

The east wing of the Institute I am studiyng at. This is where the main spatial planning office is located:

The first week we were here my class took a field trip through Blekinge (the county I am in), and I took a few really good pictures.

A small little harbor inlet. The yellow house on the very far right apparently belongs to Kofi Annan (it was his wife's fathers):

Here is a sepia tone version of the picture I took (linked due to size):

From the harbor in small town called Karlshamn:

One of the harbors in Karlskrona (the town I am in):

A little inlet not to far from my apartment:

Wednesday night I took a walk and decided to try to take some night pictures with my camera. Here are some of the results I liked:

An intersection/highway overpass:

Looking out across the water:

The administration building at the institute at night:

I found this guy just floating along in the water. I was surprised my camera was able to focus on him in the darkness:

Here is a directory link to some of the pictures I took today (all have been resized from their original 6.1MP size to make for easier viewing):

Enjoy Scandinavia, muggins.

A family friend's son just spent two years in Norway going to an International Red Cross (I think that's who runs it) boarding school. He skipped his senior year of high to do it, too. Pretty cool experience.

Amazingly this town seems to only be inhabited by old people when one leaves the periphery of the university...

In 109 pictures today (many of which taken in the city center), there was only one picture with young females:

Nice pics, Muggins!

My great grandfather, Oluf Oleson, used to say "Ten Thousand Swedes ran through the weeds, chased by one Norwegian".

Yes - he was from Norway.

My grandmother (whose dad was Danish, mother was Norwegian) says that Swedes are Norwegians w/ holes in their heads.

Here are three pictures I took on November 2nd:

Last friday night I went to hang out with a couple friends and afterwards we went to a halloween party. Of course, I had to do something:

Earlier tonight, an apartment about four rooms away from me and two floors up caught fire. The fire department showed up and managed to get it put out. I was only able to get one good picture of it. The rest turned out too underexposed:

Oh...when I took that picture I was living with 4 other roommates, and apparently they had some cultural aversions to putting shoes in their room, so they would leave them all piled up all over the living room.

This one was taken in the middle of the day when everyone was gone, so the shoe population wasn't what it normally was:

Here is a view out my window now. Not as good of a view, but notice the lack of shoes:

Yeah but why in that picture are a pair of shoes on the window sill? Was it an attempt at art?
