I didn't want to be a lawyer, anyway

The OH bar exam results were released this morning and I didn't pass. I'm not devestated or anything, since law's not a passion of mine (although, it would've been nice to get the "Esq."). I'm sure my friends that do want to be lawyers, but didn't pass are feeling terrible right now. I am kind of pissed that I wasted the summer studying, racked up even more debt from those courses, and gave up the family vacation to Hilton Head - first time I missed it in about 11 or so years. Oh, well. Maybe I'll take it again in February, maybe I'll move back to VA and take their exam, or maybe I'm done with the whole thing. Culinary school is sounding very tempting right about now. I do need to get a job soon since my student loans are due in a month.

Seeing Auhnold say "four more ye-ahs" this afternoon should raise my spirits some. And if that doesn't work, the case of Corona in the fridge should help. And there's always porn.

One less lawyer in the world is a good thing.

If you didn't want to be a lawyer, you wouldn't have gotten this far.

You're down, but you're not out. Go watch Rocky and Rudy, do a studying/training montage, and you'll be ready to kick ass in February.

Sorry to hear it. The most important thing I can tell you is this: Don't make any decisions now. Take your mind off of all of this, and revisit the issue in a couple of months.

My wife is 0 for 2.

Luckily her job has not specifically required it, yet.

Plenty of folks don't make it their first time. Don't give up hope!

And I'm pretty sure you can defer the loans if you don't have a job...

Sorry to hear it regardless. Take David's wonderful advice. Go out tonight, hit High Street, watch the Bucks win tomorrow, and start fresh on Monday with no burdens. Just enjoy life for a bit.

Best of Luck to you!

But what if the Buckeyes don't win? Talk about a shitty week!

Don't give up yet, DJ!!!

Why did you go to law school and take the bar if you do not want to be a lawyer?

It pains me to say, but there is almost no chance that the Buckeyes will lose to the Nittany Lions this week....

And I agree with David's recommendation.... Take some time off and relax and then consider whether taking the bar again is something for YOU.

It's more common than you think.

I agree with the advice - take some time and then reevaluate.

I think you should be making decisions right now. Don't wait a few months. The time is now.

You need to decide what kind of porn will be featured first. Will you go with the lesbians? Maybe some MFF threesome action? Interracial? Perhaps even a little foot fetish action.

Do not waste your time. The crucial decisions are upon you!

Maybe this is a sign...

A career change!

From your interests you listed, possibly get work playing a beer-drinking lawyer in porn movies? Just a thought....

Okay, maybe listen to David

Why did you go to law school, pay over $100,000 in tuition etc., and take the bar if you do not want to be a lawyer?

Chill out, regroup, whatever. But don't pull the "I didn't want to be a lawyer anyway" line. It's too much of an investment in many ways not to be a serious intent. I don't buy it. (I'm in my last year of law school now and pass or fail next summer, I will never claim I didn't want and try to pass the bar & be a lawyer.)

I was about to advise you not to be rash, but then I remembered this thread from during the bar:

Or I can defer my loans and go to culinary school like I wanted to before law school.
Sorry about the bad news. Best of luck in whatever you choose to do.

Don't only like 40% pass the bar the first time?

I wouldn't get discouraged. Take it again.

It's actually much higher. The first-time bar pass rate for my alma mater was 95.3%.

depends on the state. and if you want to get more detailed, it depends on the school too.

In CO, the overall first time taker pass rate is usually between 70 and 80%, I think. Univ of CO first time pass rate is usually 80-90%.

The 1st time pass rate for the one I took (MD-July99) was around 70%. 65% overall.

If you go to culinary school be ready to shell out a ton of cash. I priced out CIA here in Long Island and it's like $80,000 for the 4 year program.
