When Elvis left the building, he apparently was heading to the bank.

According to new report by Forbes magazine online, Elvis Presley's estate pulled in $40 million in over the past year to make him the top-earning dead celebrity.

"Peanuts" creator Charles Schulz, who was second to The King on last year's list, came in second again with earnings of $35 million.

"The Lord of the Rings" author J.R.R Tolkien was third with $23 million, followed by John Lennon with $21 million and Theodor Geisel, aka Dr. Seuss, with $18 million.

Rounding out the top 10 were Marilyn Monroe, George Harrison, Irving Berlin, Bob Marley and Richard Rogers.

Forbes said to watch for Marlon Brando to appear on the list in the future. The site said his executors are trying to get trademark protection for use of his name and picture.

Wow, it's amazing that these dead people still earn so much money.

Looks like dying was a great career move for him.

I'm surprised Sinatra isn't on that list.
