In the event of your demise......

With many of us posting on this message board and other ones, we've made online friends and become part of virtual communities. With this in mind, should your untimely demise come, have you instructed anyone to report your death to the online communities you populate? It seems trivial, but having been around here for so long, I would definitely want to have somebody give my last shout out, but at the moment have not made this known to anybody.

I would prefer to simply disappear mysteriously, like Amelia Earhart.

It is my sad duty to report that dork has passed away, killed by thieves who stole a post-it containing his DVDTalk user-id and password.

Mods, please BAN him in memoriam.

If I suddenly disappear, I either got a life, or lost one.

In the meantime, still growing that unmentionable postcount.

I was just thinking about this today. Earlier in the year, a member of an online mailing list who I had met in person several times died of some aneurism in his lung. His girlfriend accessed his email account and sent an email to all his group mailing lists. It was weird to receive a message with his name as the sender detailing how he had died suddenly at the age of 36. For some reason, I was thinking about him today.

No, but considering how many directors and studios want my head on a stick for giving their films bad reviews, perhaps I should consider it...

Wow 12 - no and 0 - yes

I voted no. But I work with occassional poster 'montecristo', so I would hope that he would at least mention my passing in The Other

Of course we will - the DVD Talk server CPU load will instantly drop by two-thirds.

A while ago, I thought about this a little. It occurred to me that with bandwidth and hard drive space being virtually unlimited, someone should set up an Internet last-words company: a hosting service that promises to publish one's last words publicly forever, so that your grandkids' grandkids will be able to read your message to your progeny. This should be funded by the federal government, in fact.

I'd like to come back and haunt the forum. Unfortunately I don't believe in ghosts, I guess I'm screwed.

At another large forum I post at (Swordforum.com), we lost a popular moderator. He was actually typing an IM to another member when suddenly there was nothing. The next day, his daughter finished the IM telling what had happened. Luckily his daughter was familiar with the forum.

So what happened? Don't keep us in suspense, man!
