Oh my God, it's a girl!!!

Due to some friendly nudging by sfsdfd (don't even think it, you perverts!) and this thread, I've been inspired to start my first ever Otter thread.

This evening I stopped by EB to trade in some games for Halo 2. When he saw me, a new trainee's eyes nearly popped out of his head. I was a grown woman, I know lots about video games, and I'm buying Halo 2 for myself, not my husband or a child. This kid was one of those blabby socially-inept types. He completely ignored my cool "leave me the hell alone" demeanor and decided to regale me with all sorts of information about Halo 2 (which as a Bungie devotee, all of which I already knew) and an exciting story he heard about a gamer girl that was more interested in how big a guy's tv was than what type of car he had or how much money he made (which I didn't care about). He was so enamored with the fact that I was female and liked video games that he annoyed the crap out of me the entire time I was there.

I'm normally used to this type of thing. I like video games and electronic "toys", like movies not of the "chick-flick" nature, read comic books and am a Star Wars fan, but damn. I know a lot of the other women here must have the same problem due to the nature of the site. So let's hear it. Girls? And guys, do any of you have girlfriends/wives that participate with you in this type of thing? Do they have problems with the droolers too?

Damnit, I lost a bet with myself. I thought it would be 5 minutes before the obligatory pics post. It was only 3.

My girlfriend is more geeky than I am. Actually, we're probably on the same level... but just into different things. (For example, she likes fantasy stuff a lot more than I do, and a lot more about the history of the X-Men than I ever would... but I have the advantage of Star Trek and Doctor Who)

I know once she wore a Metal Gear Solid tshirt (which she never had even played, she sticks to RPGs and stuff, she probably got the shirt free somewhere... she's weird like that) and some guy at Target kept flirting with her because of it.

This is some new use of the word "advantage" that I've not seen before.

Congrats!

Played Halo in Co-op with my woman. She cannot wait for us to do it again for Halo 2. We ordered the limited. We are already talking about time off for this.

My husband and I are very much the same way. We like to play co-op video games together and both like first and third person shooters, but that's about where our similarities stop. He tends to like games like Tony Hawk and sports games when he plays alone, whereas I prefer Zelda and love to play on Live. We also read different comic books. He thinks I'm nuts for being really into the ilovebees.com ARG ("Honey? Are you talking to the AI again?"), and I don't get a lot of his music stuff. We have a pretty complimentary relationship though. It makes buying stuff really dangerous. We both want the same things so we don't have an opposite to stifle our spending.

My wife is the one that plays our PS2. I never even touch it.

Once in a while I'll rent her a game while I'm getting movies and the guy in the store will start talking gamer stuff and I'll say that I'm renting it for my wife. I love the look on their faces when I do that.

Halo couples of the world unite!

We're awful. We have both the regular and limited editions preordered and paid for so we can play full screen on our respective Xboxes and HDTVs.

Unfortunately, I don't think the state of Ohio advocates polygamy. Try hanging out at your local EB. Maybe you'll get lucky.

The thread title sounds like it could be a line of dialogue from some reverse version of The Crying Game.
