Amazing picture for the hunters around here.

I just got this forwarded to me from a DU guy. He says that it was taken by a friend of his.

For those of you who don't hunt, a recent phenomena in hunting is to use motion senor cameras to stake out an area you want to hunt. You put the camera on a tree, and it takes pictures of anything that moves in the field of view. You check it in a few days and see what is around.

Anyway, this was taken with such a camera.

That blows me away. Look how close the cougar is and the deer has no clue.

Ha! Cougars are cool. The DNR released a few of them here to help curb the deer population. Even though they say they didn't, that's the rumor. Every once in a while there are news stories about them being sited or chewing on drain tile coming from houes or being blamed for missing dogs and cats.

Wow look at that. I'd sure love to shoot it!

Just kidding. It doesn't take a jerko hunter to appreciate how cool that picture is.

I love all animals. After this picture, I just hope the cougar (after enjoying a deliscious, well-deserved meal) made a u-turn and destroyed the photographer/hunter (if taken by one). Yum...human...

I'd love to see a shot 2 seconds later after the deer -- stunned by the brilliant flash of light that suddenly appeared in the darkness -- turned to see what was up and saw Mellencamp staring back at him.

He'd better be careful, then. Anxious Bigfoot hunters might shoot him! With all that hair, y'know, it's hard to tell...

These are done with motion sensors, so there is not hunter to destroy.

But if there were, there would probably be a nice cougar run near a fireplace somewhere. I love animals too. Good furs for warmth, good meet for good, and I understand that if you grind up an elephants penis, it is like viagra at only 50 times the cost.

Got the same pic in an email back on Sept. 27 from a guy at work, who is an avid hunter.

Interesting that the guy who forwarded him the email said this:

A guy here at work got this on his game camera in the Baraboo area in Wisconsin

Sounds like it might be one of those things that everyone who passes along got "from a friend"...

Had I not been at work, I was going to Photochop her into the photo and repost it. First thing I thought of when I saw the pic.
