FYI: "The Edit Window", "To Smiley or not to Smiley", & "The Other Forum Guy".

1. The Edit Stamp Window:

There is a 2 minute (give or take) "Edit Window" (as it were) that allows you to edit your posts for approximately 2 minutes, then after that time an "Edit Stamp" will appear at the bottom of your posts looking something very much like this:

Last edited by The Edit King on 08-16-56 at 02:40 PM. Reason: Because that's what I do.

...but it will usually contain your screen name and the correct date & time.

Posts may be edited many times within the "Edit Window". The absence of an "Edit Stamp" at the bottom of a post doesn't necessarily mean that post was not edited, and in certain instances may have in fact been edited numerous times.

2. To Smiley, or not to smiley. That, is the question.:

Sometimes smileys are appropriate and sometimes they are not.

But the choice of use, misuse, or non use of smileys is one that we all must make independently, according to our conscious and moral values and ideals. Some people use them, some people don't. Some people abuse them, and some people don't.

Smileys are inanimate objects, and not unlike cartoons, they are not alive and do not feel pain. Therefore it's solely up to you on their use, misuse or non use.

3. The "Other Forum Guy" smiley:

If you have any questions concerning "The Other Forum Guy" smiley, they can best be answered by reading THIS.

Thank You.

Tek!

I didn't know about the 2-minute warning on edits. I assumed (and now I know incorrectly!) that if you edited your comment before someone else read it that the little 'last edited by' thingie wouldn't show. It's sure nice to start the weekend knowing I was wrong all this time!! Thanks for nuttin', THEEK!!!

Re: FYI: "The Edit Window" & "To Smiley or not to Smiley. That, is the question.&

Hi Tek!

I had no idea about the 2 minute window. I guess I should have read the new members information better!

Personally, I like the smileys. Sometimes it's hard to tell when someone is being all serious or if they're just playing around.

Other times, nothing needs to be said, just a well placed smiley is all that is needed. But other times, the smileys can be a little confusing and make people feel frustrated.

There are a few smileys that I think would be nice to have like a "shug" and a "blowing kisses" smiley would be helpful. Don't ya think?

Some of them are really strange and I have no idea what they mean....

I don't think a post can have too many smileys in them. They usually make me laugh! And sometimes they make me wanna puke...

I can always count on the members of otterville to make good use of smileys. Although some do over use them and that can be boring.

So thanks for the info, Tek , I always enjoy reading your posts.

Now if you'll excuse me, my husband should be home for lunch soon and I need to go make sure I have something hot for him to eat and a nice cold drink, too.

Bye!

: To show that someone is threadcrapping without saying it.

: The non-pornographic pictoral version of a boner.

: A troll is someone who comes into threads and says things specifically to get people mad and start arguments. This smiley is to say, "Don't interact with them."

Hope that helps!

You're welcome!

I guess because they didn't want to call it "the non-pornographic pictoral version of a boner." You know, one of those unspoken things that everyone is meant to understand.

What the Hell do I care if it's too much for you to read?

Those that wanna know will read it.

Those that don't, won't.

I don't have any money invested in the deal. If you want in on it, get in on it. If not, leave this dyin' sucker I always say.

Either way, it's no sweat off of my testicles.
