You can be my friend!

I'm in the same boat as you. I have maybe one 'close' friend. I was born 15-20 years too late. Give me a conversation with a 40 year old over a 21 one year old ANYDAY of the week.

Thanx very much. I didn't want to ask you anymore questions, so as not to appear stupider than I felt at the time.

I will take a look and see if I understand what you did.

talemyn, I'm getting a better understanding of what you did and I deleted the unnecessary tags, but I'm still getting the large blank space at the top.

Looking at your corrections, did you have to manually delete every open space between the <> & <>? If so, that would take at least a half hour to do that everytime there is an update.

What I am doing is coping the code as you see it from my Excel spreadsheet. Each tag or text represents a column. I know that is probably the hard way to do it, but I'm an Excel man and do most everything in there.

I then copy that code to the reply box and then reply to the thread. The copying and pasting everytime will leave those blank spaces that you got rid of.

Am I going about it the wrong way, remembering that I would still like to have all of this information in Excel.

Thanx for any help you can give me, Chris

Honestly, the biggest problem was that you have a line break in between each row. Because, from a technical point of view, it falls "outside" of the table (since it doesn't occur in a set of <TD> or <TH> tags), it gets shunted completely outside of the table. The forum software then interprets all of those line breaks as . . . well . . . linebreaks and every one of them is placed before the table. The only way to get rid of all of that space is to, essentially, put the all of the code for the entire table on a single line.

The spaces in between the <TD> or <TH> tags aren't ideal, but the don't cause as much trouble as the line breaks.

Unfortunately, that's the bulk of the rest of the troubles that you are seeing. MS Office programs are notorious for butchering HTML during the "Save as Web Page" process.

Re: Have we ever done an age check here?

With the passing of Classicman, I thought that this thread needed a bump and update as I was surprised to see how old he was when he joined DVDTalk.

So if you don't mind divulging your age for the first time/again, please feel free.

I also never participated the first time around so here I go:

Age: 45
Gender: Male
Status: Married

I'm 55. I'll turn 56 on the same day Nick Danger and at least one other poster get a year older...
