Basically over here. I'm in Broward county. Never lost power fully. Just some flickers. Still getting some squalls. Went out and there wass one big palm that fell on a neighbor's house. Doesn't look like it did any damage though, wasn't a far fall.

I'm in Broward County and we lost power at our house...though I'm at a friend's paren't house. If she didn't invite me up, I'd be stuck without power, and *gasp* without the internet!!!

Also here in Broward, and most of it's over...just the occasional whip through of wind gusts and downpours...but brief occurances.
I've taken a few pics of neighborhood damage, but they're huge pics...can anyone tell me how to shrink these images a bit, so they don't take 4 17" screens stacked to make a square to see the whole thing?

Irfanview is free image editor, will allow you to resample to smaller sizes. You can find it by Googling.
BE SURE to save the reduced-size photo under a new name, or you'll lose the full-res file. I just append the letter s for small)

Thanks OldDude, I'll be sure to check it out...sounds like the perfect thing.
Thanks dstrauss, unfortunately, I think I'm running windows version 1.0.......
And Luddy, you can damn well bet that all of Florida will be keeping it's eyes trained on Ivan....
Glad to see Hurricane Howard on west coast petered out in strength, and I believe also turned away from the US in general.

I talked to my dad today. He lives about a mile inland in West Palm Beach. Some minor damage to the pool/bug netting and a broken tree somewhere on the property. Still no power, he plans to head back Friday from Pensacola.

The 11pm NHC map for Ivan's five-day movement showed it going right through Haiti/Dominican mountains. At that point, they predicted it was going to weaken drastically to a tropical storm and then regenerate a bit when it got back out to sea. After that, it looked like it was either going back out to sea or at least north of Florida...
The 5am map was revised to make me wonder what higher power hates Florida so much. The track right now looks about as bad as it could be if you live in Florida. Of course, this'll change a hundred times between now and Friday, but still:

Here in Jacksonvile we got a lot of rain and wind last night, gusts up to 45-50mph. It made it real hard to get some sleep last night. The power was on and off last night but not out for too long. Still raining now and we are still under a tornada watch until 2pm.

We lost power for almost 24 hours. Just came back on about 45 min. ago. Unfortunately, we're getting water damage from the storm. Not too bad, but the living room will have to get a paint job.
Doesn't look like it's letting up much. We're on the backside of the storm and the rain is streaming in off the Gulf of Mexico. I really don't want Ivan coming this way.

I went to a family friend's house (because my mom insisted) and when I came back looks like absolutely nothing changed. Oh well, can't complain with free food and shelter in a nice house for a couple nights

Does anyone know anything about road conditions?
I would really like to get home today but I don't know if I can make it since parts of 95 that I need to be on are apparently closed.

Jacksonville got more than I expected. My mom's house is without power for about 14 hours now. I think half the city is out of power, at least it was. Right now I'm at my dad's house in Jax and driving here I saw many trees down and power poles that fell to the ground. Many street lights are out. As I drove into the neighborhood I saw a huge tree on a house. Every road is covered with leaves and branches. Luckily the power is on here.
The wind last night was pretty rough. I heard more than 1 transformer blow, signalling the end to someone's power last night.

Got my power back, and everything seems to be open. Even got a tuna sub from The Big Cheese. God I love their tuna sub. Who doesn't like tuna on their face?
Well I hope everyone's safe and warm and healthy and free to leave tuna-filled lives.

We lost power at 7:00a.m. Sunday morning & just got it back today at 12:30p.m. A huge Pine Tree got snapped at the entrance to the neighborhood but that was the worst of it.

Well I am stuck in Atlanta because the storm is coming through here tomorrow, I am hoping to head back Wednesday. From what I heard we sustained minor damage, but we are without power... I can live with that.

Ok...this might as well be a first attempt (I did this over a year ago...so long time of no practice) at posting photos of damage in our area...just gonna do 2 or 3 in this post....EDITED TO ADD: special thanks to OldDude for the recommendation of irfanview...a program so simple even a moron like me can do resizing!
1. This tree had something imbedded in the split...I'll post the shot I took of it...and the tree's ultimate fate!
2. Close call for that car! The tree fell into the handicapped spot...
3. This tree fell into TWO spots, and again...nobody parked there...
It's amazing...so many trees fell into the road/parking spaces, and I think the worst that happened in our neighborhood was some stray branches that might have scratched someone's paint.
