Do you lock the door(s) to your home every night?

It's a ritual for me. Sometimes right when I am drifting off to sleep, I'll think that I forgot to lock the patio door. Then I have to get up and ensure it's locked.

Yep.. I make sure they are all locked and deadbolted before bed.
Then, just like you, I cant remember if I locked them all and go check.

Of course, I saw Unbreakable. I have metal security doors which I keep locked at night but leave my front door ajar for some nice ventilation. It is very comfortable here in SD at night right now.

I often leave my windows unlocked, although they are screened so I'd hear something.

I do, but didn't when I used to live alone... I would regularly fall asleep with doors unlocked and even open.

Why, Yes, we do!

There was a time when we never did (down South in Louisiana until I was 5 years old, then we moved to "Hollywood"), but things have changed and over the years the hearts of men are becoming darker and bolder.

We've got a front porch that I closed in quite beautifully if I might say so myself (which became my workshop), and there's a Mr. Ed type split/door I made for it that has three deadbolt locks.

Then, on the inside of that, there's the actual door that leads into our place that has a deadbolt and a little door handle lock.

But since the riots, just to be safer...I even created a "baracade" thingy of sorts.

It's like a 2 x 4 that fits into two metal slots on either side of the door frame that when in place, it snuggly crosses the middle of the door, and we have a little pull down door stop (at the bottom left corner of the door on the inside) that makes it virtually impossible to get through without breaking the door completely down...

"...and down will come door frame, door frame and all."

We live on the second floor of a town house kinda place and we feel quite safe & secure 24/7!

THEEK!

Of course. I like to feel safe, even though I'm in a fairly good area.

Yes. And when I'm out of town, like I am now, I lock all the locks on my hotel room.

Yes - I can't fall asleep after having personally checked both the front and back doors.

Don't even have a key to the doors that I know of. Back door is open during the summers. We lock up when we leave for a few days....except the back door, cuz we need to get back in.

Contrary to what Michael Moore showed in "Bowling for Columbine", I believe most people in Canada lock their doors heh.

So, yeah, until I have a fantasy to get robbed and beaten up in my sleep, I'll lock the doors

I'm Canadian and I would often sleep with my door unlocked. However, when I left I'd be sure to lock it.

I do know a few people who NEVER lock their doors though. Seems a little crazy to me, but nothing's happened...yet.

Of course. Why would you not lock your door? I'm not afraid of somebody coming into my house, but having a lock you don't use seems more than a little stupid, no?

When Michael Moore did that bit he was opening doors during the day and the people were home.

I lock my door at night, but I have forgotten before. I leave my balcony door open all the time in the Summer. I live on the second floor. I wouldn't do it if I lived on the first floor of course, but if somebody really wanted to get in here they could pretty easily. With 100 other apartments around in the complex I don't think they'd get around to checking mine when they'd need a ladder.
